China celebrates first PCHi Fountain Awards

The 10th edition of the Personal Care and Homecare Ingredients (PCHi) trade show held its inaugural Fountain Awards and revealed 30 award recipients.

This year, PCHi 2017 welcomed a record total of 507 global exhibitors, to demonstrate its latest ingredients, technologies and innovations.

10th birthday

Key markets centre around three main areas including consumer care, performance technologies and industrial chemicals that include coatings and polymers, crop care, geo-technologies, health care, home care, industrial chemicals, lubricants, personal care and polymer additives segments.

Collaborating in close connection with experts from universities, research institutions, PCHi’s Cosmetics Science & Technology Innovation Committee (CSTIC) and established domestic and foreign scientific research individuals, the PCHi team gave 30 separate nods to brands in the personal care and ingredients sectors.

Fountain Awards

Celebrating its first year, the Fountain Awards focused largely on the active ingredients segment, awarding five brands in the moisturising and hydrating arena, five in the anti-ageing sector, two in the whitening and brightening cosmetics area and two in the ‘other’ actives category, including natural based speciality chemicals Croda.

In addition to recognising ‘outstanding individuals of the year’, the Fountain Awards also noted functional ingredients, green and sustainable winners and packaging and machinery names.

“The Fountain Awards has given us a golden opportunity to recognise the significant contributions made by companies and individuals in the industry,” said Joe Zhou, Vice President at Reed Sinopharm Exhibitions (RSE).

“When PCHi first came to Guangzhou all those years ago, we were establishing ourselves as a key networking and knowledge-driven platform for the industry,” Zhou added.

“The show has since more than doubled in size, visitor and exhibitor numbers, showcase attractions, and conference seminars.”

Case Study: Croda takes a win

Under Croda Group, active ingredient creator and manufacturer Sederma won the PCHi Fountain Award in China in the active ingredient category for its pollution-defence Citystem.

“Citystem has been developed to offer the most adapted response to skin pollution-induced concerns expressed by consumers all over the world. We are delighted to see that our efforts have paid off,” said Olga Gracioso, Sederma’s Marketing Director.

In China, consumers seek daily solutions to protect them against the detrimental effects of pollution to both the skin and beneath the skin layers.
