Dixie to bring 'marijuana infused' personal care to Australia
Following Australia's announcement that it will allow 'safe access' to medicinal cannabis for suffering patients for the first time, US based Dixie is on track to introduce its marijuana infused cosmetics range to the country in 2016.

Alongside food, drinks and tinctures, Dixie also produces its own range of cosmetics including a Bath Soak, Muscle Relief Lotion and Relief Balm which are infused with THC – the main psychoactive constituent of cannabis.

To date, the firm's products have only been available in Alaska, Colorado, Oregon and Washington where the use of both recreational and medicinal marijuana is legalized.

Although legislation has yet to be finalized in Australia, Dixie has signed an agreement with Cann Group to bring its line of CBD topicals to the market once the laws have been established.

New Zealand is reported to be on a similar path with respect to medicinal cannabis reforms, thus allowing these partners to explore and realize the potential market for Dixie's products there too.

"This is historic for us in that it is our first international expansion. We have great confidence that [this partnership] will capture a significant share of the CBD health and beauty market in Australia and New Zealand with products that live up to the quality that Dixie brands promise to deliver,"says Tripp Keber, CEO of Dixie Brands.

The power of cannabinoids in anti-ageing

Clinical research has demonstrated that cannabinoids have anti-ageing properties and are rich in antioxidants, as confirmed by the journal of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology.

Those same cannabinoids are reported to be at the heart of formulations created by the Cann Group, an evolution from Cann its expertise and research in the formulation and sales of health and beauty products in Australia.

Hemp oil, which is derived from crushed cannabis seeds, has long been used for its moisturizing properties in creams, cosmetics and the antiperspirant market. However, there has been a notable influx of product launches across the globe in the last few years.

With consumers increasingly searching for cosmetics that are both sourced from the natural environment and are innovative in nature, manufacturers to constantly create product ranges that cater to their demands.

With this, the extract has become a focus for many cosmetic manufacturers, who are increasingly drawing on more innovative ingredients in a bid to shake up the saturated natural and organic market.

Most forms of cannabinoid products are illegal to use in consumer products without a doctor’s prescription. However, hemp seed oil is legal in the EU and is commonly used in cosmetics.
