PCHi China 2017 trade show turns 10

The 2017 Personal Care and Homecare Ingredients (PCHi) trade show has launched several new platforms as it celebrates its 10th anniversary.

Every year, the global exhibition and conference, which is known for providing industry insights on high-quality cosmetics ingredient sourcing and personal care updates, will take place from 21st – 23rd February 2017 at the Guangzhou Poly World Trade Center in Guangzhou, China.

Show organiser Reed Sinopharm Exhibitions (RSE) anticipates over 15,000 industry visitors and more than 500 exhibitors will attend almost 100 conference sessions at the 2017 event.

Striving to bring the most up to date news and developments to the personal care and homecare industries, conferences will focus on rules and regulations, technologies, packaging and market trends.

Getting up to speed on regulations

Authority and regulatory body experts will detail the new requirements and trends affecting Asian cosmetics including China, Japan and South Korea, which have experienced several industry changes recently.

As a number of countries in APAC — India, New Zealand, South Korea and Taiwan — have either banned cosmetics testing on animals in their respective countries or have announced their implementation plans to do so, PCHi will feature a cosmetics testing conference. It will focus on various elements of interest including in vitro testing, product safety assessment and efficacy evaluation.

Constantly evolving

To mark 10 years of PCHi, the 2017 three-day event will platform dermo-cosmetics. As non-invasive procedures have seen a rise in popularity in recent years,  this will provide visitors and exhibitors with updates on developments in the dermo-cosmetics industry.

A specialised slot will also be given to essential oil, fragrances, natural extracts and Chinese herbs in the conference programme, as innovation and R&D focus on maximising safety and efficacy.

Familiar conferences that centre on discussing technology relating to skin care and further requirements for SPF labelling, the growing colour cosmetics and hair care industries, along with relevant technical and R&D news in the cosmetics formulation conference, will take place.

Stand out from the crowd

As packaging should remain contemporary, visually-appealing yet creative, packaging designers and level technology professionals will be providing recent observations on the industry, which is estimated to be worth  $32.4 bn (€30.7 bn) by 2018, PCHi reports.

Market outlook

As industry insight platform, ReportLinker, reveals how China's cosmetics market has seen a striking lift in recent times to become the globe's second largest market, attendees will hear from a range of speakers on the upcoming prevalent trends set to influence APAC companies’ business strategies.

“At PCHi, we endeavour to be the bridge that connects China’s personal care market to the international audience and vice versa,” said Elynn Xu, Project Manager at RSE.

“Exhibitor figures continue to increase every year, and that’s an indicator of the show’s position in the global personal care and cosmetics industry. We’re delighted to be raising the bar with PCHi 2017, where nearly 40%* of our participating exhibitors will be international companies.”

Recognising success

In another first for the PCHi trade show, this year, the show organiser will present Fountain Awards, a selection of industry awards presented to companies in recognition of their product development contributions.

Made possible with the help of the Cosmetics Science and Technology Innovation Committee (CSTIC), the awards will be presented to those companies that stand out for ingredient innovation and packaging design, along with outstanding individuals.

“PCHi turns 10...and this is undoubtedly an important milestone for us. In the next phase of our growth, we plan to focus on enhancing the show experience for exhibitors and visitors, while retaining the event’s core and evergreen elements,” added Xu.
