in-cosmetics Asia 2016 presents latest innovations in beauty and personal care
This year’s event, which houses hundreds of leading global innovative brands, will focus on changing consumer demands in product selection, placement and pricing.

Billed as an innovation platform for the cosmetic and personal care industries in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region and beyond, it will be held in Bangkok, Thailand on 8-10 November 2016.

And while the show floor will see global brands showcase their latest developments in active ingredients and technologies, it will also provide market education and insight to formulators, R&D and regulatory professionals.

APAC Growth

The annual event will re expected to showcase their latest innovations at in-cosmetics Asia 2016, demonstrating the annual 8.0% predicted growth that Mintel has reported the Asia Pacific region (APAC) seeing in the beauty and cosmetics sectors from the end of 2015 to the end of 2016.

Asia is a fast-evolving region that brings together 400 exhibitors, showcasing their latest ingredients, fragrances, testing, lab equipment and regulatory solutions, along with almost 7,500 Asian cosmetic manufacturers.

"A range of exhibitors cosmetics market and Asian consumers are embracing new trends quicker than any other region in the world,” says Sarah Gibson, Exhibition Director, in-cosmetics Asia in a press release.

“Sales of beauty and personal care products skyrocketed in 2015 and are expected to pass US$150bn by 2017...the market is expected to increase in size by almost 25% by 2020”.

Spotlight 2016

This year's focus will be on anti-pollution products and halal products, which are both seeing more exposure this year.

  • Protective products

Active ingredients that help to shield the skin against pollution has also evolved and gained additional properties, including maximising this protection and those of UV and blue light.

The Asian market will also see these multi-protective shield products contain a ‘detox’ function that helps to reverse the damage done through daily pollution and free-radical exposure.

  • Sustainable Cosmetics

Green and natural silicone replacement materials are also hotly anticipated to be a key trend this year as the natural and organic cosmetic trends dominating the APAC region.

These innovations enable formulators to combine the light sensory benefits and appeal of colour cosmetics with the use of natural products that do not compromise the feel to the skin or durability.

Market Principles

The growth of product categories, digital technology and market shifts are causing brands to update their production and marketing strategies.

  • Hybrid Products

Brands promoting products at this year’s in-cosmetic Asia 2016 are anticipated to offers a range of multipurpose cosmetic and personal care solutions to expand the definition of hybrid beauty.

Alphabet creams, cushion foundations and tinted lip balms, along with makeup offering skin care benefits are some of the multi-use products on display.

  • Digital Beauty

As smartphone and social media use have become commonplace, digital technology is prominent within all areas of retail. How the beauty and personal care sectors better integrate software, platforms and apps to maximise visibility and consumer interaction with products and services will be a big focus at this year’s event.

  • Fashion Market

Cosmetics and personal care ranges in 2016 are expected to consist of fast-paced product innovations that reflect fashion market principles.

An emphasis on reliable ‘base’ formulations that promote minimal disruption within the formulation approach is tipped to be high on the agenda at this year’s event.

  • Price Points

Masstige product is predicted to lead the way at this year’s in-cosmetics Asia 2016 as brands and products position themselves as prestige-performing products at a mid-range price.

Innovation Heavyweights

The event will include the innovation zone, which will display the most innovative new ingredients and formulations to hit the market and launched either at the show or within the eight months before.

An awards ceremony will also be held to celebrate the best new active and functional ingredients.

Last year’s winners included a range of newly-developed anti-aging remedies, skin care protective-based solutions and aesthetically-pleasing cosmetic applications.
