Croda invests in laboratories in Asia Pacific
Croda International, the British speciality chemicals company, has furthered its plans to open three new laboratories in Greater China, Republic of Korea and Indonesia.

The manufacturer, which produces high-performance ingredients and technologies for Consumer Care in the health and beauty industries, will launch three new formulation laboratories across the APAC region to show its commitment to ongoing investment throughout the APAC region.

These three new laboratories aim to strengthen communication and customer relationships through localisation. The company hopes that this will support collaboration between Croda and local formulators to enable them to develop new product developments.

The laboratories will also invite customers to attend training workshops on site to understand more about Croda’s new product launches and gain insights on current market trends in a range of sectors including personal care and health care.

One of Croda’s key sectors, personal care, offers a variety of products including natural, botanical ingredients from its Crodarom division and a full range of skin care actives from its Sederma division.

Achieving sustainability

As part of its dedication to sustainability, Croda Personal Care uses certified sustainable palm oil and other renewable raw materials.

In October 2016, Croda was awarded the runner-up prize for Sustainability Leadership at the Sustainable Beauty Awards, organised by Organic Monitor.

Held in Paris, the 3rd annual Sustainable Beauty Awards recognised Croda’s leadership in sustainability through various aspects including its commitment to renewable raw material sourcing - with 66.1% derived from renewables in 2015 - and a focus on sustainable product development through their embedment of the 12 Principles of Green Chemistry.

In 2015, 24.2% of the Group’s energy came from non-fossil fuel sources, representing Croda’s green manufacturing operations.

Croda is also investing in the construction of its first manufacturing site in the US. It  will use ethylene oxide derived from bio-ethanol to produce 100% renewable non-ionic surfactants.

Croda will seek to develop physical certified supply chains for palm oil derivatives and continue to strengthen its position on the Ingredient Integrity Programme, which strives to maximise product benefits and market these to its consumers.

This award comes shortly after Croda was also placed in the top 1% of all companies assessed by EcoVadis, a sustainability assessment platform. It has achieved Gold Status for the last three consecutive years.
