Cosme Tech Tokyo 2014 changes dates from May to October

Cosme Tech Tokyo, one of the biggest industry events for the massive Japanese cosmetics industry, is set to change the dates for the show from the month of May to October.

This year the event will take place during the three days, October 20 – 22, and like last year’s event, it will also be held at the Tokyo Big Sight venue.

Reed Exhibitions, the organiser of the event, say that significant changes and growth of the show in recent years means that the new dates fit better around other key events for the industry and the Japanese holiday seasons.

Number of exhibitors set to almost double in 2014

Last year the event attracted around 380 exhibitors on the show floor, but significant expansion combined with the timing for the new dates means that this year the organiser is expecting to host around 700 exhibitors on the show floor.

Likewise, the fact that competitor exhibition Cite Japan will not be held because it is a bi-annual event and will not be staged again until May 2015, is also likely to help attract more interest in the event.

The event is also looking to build on visitor numbers that were in excess of 20,000 in 2013, mainly from Japan and other Asian countries. This year a particular aim will be to increase international visitors, both from Asia Pacific and other regions.

Cosme Tech is already one of the biggest shows in the world

Last year was only the fourth year that the Cosme Tech event has been held, and the second since it was combined with Cosme Tokyo.

“We would also like to see more visitors and exhibitors coming in from the rest of the Asia Pacific region and worldwide next year, to make this in to a truly international cosmetic industry event,” said Suzuki.

“Currently around 5% of our visitors to this event are from outside of Japan, so in 2014 we would like to see that figure increased significantly as we grow the size of the event, putting it on the map of cosmetic industry professionals worldwide.”
