Cosmoprof North America opens its doors this Sunday

Cosmoprof North America, one of the biggest industry events in the Americas, will open its doors in Las Vegas this weekend and the Cosmetics Design team will be there to report on all that’s new.

The three day event will open its doors on July 22nd at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, which will host a long list of exhibitors, a comprehensive conference and educational program and a series of special events.

This year’s exhibition floor will be divided into four principle show pavilions, which will highlight some of the leading innovations in the areas of Cosmetics and Personal Care, Wellness and Spa, Packaging Contract Manufacturing and Private Labels, together with Professional Hair, Nails and tools.

According to the show organizers, the buyer profile for attendees includes some of the world’s largest beauty players, with attendee names for the 2011 event including names such as Aveda, Avon Products, MAC Cosmetics, Coty, Unilever, Schwarzkopf and Estee Lauder.

Of those visitors to the 2011 show, 32 percent were visitor and manufacturer reps, 23 percent were manufacturers and suppliers to the industry, 15 percent consultants and 13 percent were OCT and store owners.

Attracting international visitors

The show is also said to attract a significant number of foreign visitors, with the top six countries in order of size last year being Canada, Mexico, UK, China, Brazil and Australia.

There is also a comprehensive educational and conference program lined up for this year, which this year includes eight different presentations covering a spectrum of issues, innovations and trends in that are hitting the beauty professionals radar these days. Highlights from the program will include a presentation on 22 July, 1pm - 3pm, entitled Color Your World: Your World in Color.

This presentation will look at the marketing and presentation of beauty products, and how to make color use resonate with consumers. The panel of speakers for this presentation will include Kelly Kovack from the Color Association, Daniel Kiyoi, associate art director for Tarte Cosmetics and Pam Busiek CEO and president of beauty industry association ICMAD.

The low-down on legislation

Another presentation, entitled It’s All in the Details: A Legislative Update, will take place on Monday July 23, from 11am – 12:30pm, and will take an in depth look at how the industry is dealing the current legislative plans to tighten cosmetics regulations in the US.

 The speakers for this presentation will include Pam Busiek, Steve Sleeper, executive director of the PBA and John Hurson, executive VP/ Government affairs for the industry association Personal Care Products Council.

The show will also include a series of special events, including a Get Together Party on the evening of Saturday July 21st, from 7pm – 9 pm at the Mandalay’s South Seas Ballroom, together with the North America Hairstyling Awards (NAHA), to be held in the Mandalay Bay Ballroom on Sunday 22 July, 6:30pm – 10pm, onwards.

ICMAD hosts presentation for beauty professionals

In tandem with the Cosmoprof North America event, ICMAD will also be hosting a get together and presentation that will focus on some of the most pressing issues currently facing beauty industry professionals.

The event will take place at the exhibition hall in Las Vegas in conjunction with Cosmoprof event, at 8.30 - 10am on Monday July 23rd, in meeting room Surf A.

The presentation, which will also include a breakfast and networking opportunity, will focus on these three principle areas, legislation, claims testing and an interactive presentation on safety.
