Luxe Pack Shanghai 2017: A round-up of its 10th anniversary event
The luxury trade show, which this year celebrated its 10th edition, explored the latest trends in packaging, fragrance and sustainability to launch and evolve in the Asia-Pacific region.

10th anniversary

Held on 12-13 April 2017 at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre, the event welcomed 200 exhibitors from the luxury packaging sectors, including the cosmetics and personal care spheres, to highlight latest trends and innovations.

The two-day trade show housed exclusive areas that focused on new materials and technologies for cutting-edge packaging creations.

Trending technology

With the strapline “Heritage allied to new technologies”, Luxe Pack Shanghai 2017 emphasised the importance of creativity and smart applications in the evolution of contemporary packaging geared towards providing industry solutions.

The Tech Hub zone enabled visitors to actively get involved in live demonstrations and interactive technological displays while exploring new prototypes, testing and design creations.

The trends incubator by cent degres agency explored future packaging trends that are set to impact the cosmetics and personal care sectors over the coming years. It placed a considerable focus on Chinese culture by highlighting ten specific Chinese elements that are expected to make a big impact on APAC markets.

Chinese-centred creations

New raw materials were on display exclusively for the first time at Luxe Pack Shanghai 2017 at the Luxe Pack Innovative Materials by Neuni MateriO, an online library that provides a platform to build relationships between innovative manufacturers with organisations and independent designers.

At this year’s event, ‘Scents of China’ made its debut by combining the experience and previous collaborative success achieved by creative agency centdegres, glassmaker Pochet and fragrance maker Firmenich to present a luxury edition to the trade show in 2017.

In partnership, the trio developed a fragrance to celebrate Chinese culture and heritage. While boosting its fine and luxurious status by creating a one-of-a-kind bottle, it also offered VIP visitors a customised souvenir influenced by the Chinese stamp.

Green awards

Luxe Pack Shanghai 2017 raised the profile of the importance of sustainable development by holding its Luxe Pack in Green Shanghai 2017 Awards Ceremony.

Mestä Board was recognised for its Mestä skin care gift box, an eco-friendly designed product that positively contributes toward the environment and sustainability.

The awards, which also sought to recognise those companies that conduct internal efforts to indicate their responsibility to sustainability, praised James Cropper for its Burneside Community Energy initiative that helps to create clean, green electricity to protect the ecology and surrounding landscape.
