in-cosmetics Bangkok shines the spotlight on natural & organic

This year's in-cosmetics Asia show in Bangkok will focus on 'natural and organic'. With products in this segment accounting for 3% of all cosmetic sales, organisers say it is a theme that reflects one of the industry's biggest global trends.

Most Asian consumers are still unaware of the differences between natural and conventional cosmetics and these sales predominantly represent purchases in the West.

However, the region's people are becoming increasingly concerned about chemicals such as parabens, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS), aluminium salts, phthalates and petroleum-based ingredients.

Thus, Organic Monitor reports that there is in fact, huge growth potential for this segment within the pan-Asian market, with forecasts predicting double-digit rises with revenues to pass the $1bn mark in the next two years.

The introduction of a number of 'concept stores' for natural cosmetics has also helped to increase the number of dedicated sales outlets and also raise the profile of the brands, stimulating consumer interest.

Super Product Trail to offer 'plenty of ideas and insights'

In conjunction with Organic Monitor, in-cosmetics Asia will feature a 'Super Product Trail' to drive home this theme from the 3rd -5th November.

It is designed to guide visitors to 20 innovative natural and organic ingredients; "making it easy for delegates to target their visit and come away with plenty of ideas and insights".

Attendees will be guided through the many issues and challenges of targeting the Asian market with natural and organic products while OM is also set to host a round table discussion and two workshops.

China country focus

There will also be a 'Country Focus on China', which will include a dedicated zone and market presentations from leading experts, as well as a wide range of Chinese exhibitors.

This year's sessions will range from multi-functional ingredients to 3D printing for cosmetics and regulations through to specific market insights for Korea and China.

According to the show's organisers, a new segmented Innovation Zone will highlight the latest launches in active and functional ingredients.

Visitors will also be able to take their pick from innovation seminars, regulatory presentations and the highly popular formulation lab, introduced last year exclusively for R&D professionals and formulators attending the show.
