As in-cosmetics Korea 2017 approaches, we take a look at the latest moisturisers, natural actives, anti-ageing and anti-wrinkle names and items revealed in the event's new product trails.

The in-cosmetics Korea event, organised and run by Reed Exhibitions, returns to COEX Exhibition Centre in Seoul from 20-22 June 2017.

As the market witnesses several rapidly growing sectors, this year’s event will feature new product trails to help R&D professionals, cosmetic manufacturers and industry promoters locate the biggest trends and ingredients in the personal care industry.

With moisturisers, natural actives and anti-ageing and anti-wrinkle items experiencing the highest consumer demand throughout Korea and Asia-Pacific, the event will display 30 products, strategically placed along product trails for easy identification.

Soothe, treat and protect

Market research company, Mintel, has revealed that lifestyle and environmental factors such as stress and weather conditions are having an adverse effect on skincare routines. As a result, consumers are seeking beauty items that strive to hydrate and moisturise the skin to combat these factors.

As the moisturising cosmetics area is showing considerable popularity, Cosmetics Design Asia has teamed up with in-cosmetics Korea to sponsor the moisturisers trail, where product formulations will contain claims relating to rehydration, treatment and soothing.

French-based speciality chemical supplier, Seppic, has created Aquaxyl to provide 3D hydration to ensure moisture reaches all skin layers, limits water loss by strengthening the skin barrier and enhances hyaluronic acid.

Soline Bio by dermo-cosmetics specialists, Laboratoires Expanscience, offers dual activity by accessing and stimulating the Ppar receptor to replenish lipids and soothe skin.

Macrocare Tech, which specialises in functional cosmetics R&D, has produced Phytocollagen — a fermented soybean-derived product — that includes skin moisturising, anti-inflammatory, anti-irritant and soothing agent capabilities.

Keeping it natural

The natural actives trail will contain cutting-edge natural ingredients including active botanical and marine extracts for use in personal care product formulations.

BioSpectrum has unveiled its hair care product, EMortal Pep, which is designed to protect hair cells through the inclusion of the natural active, pisum sativum. It seeks to encourage hair growth and collagen synthesis by reducing TGF-β1 in dermal papilla cells.

As a result of Givaudan’s recent Soliance and Induchem acquisitions, it has improved its in-house capabilities and launched its Givaudan Active Beauty business arm. The venture collaborates the properties of high hydrolysed biopolymer and acacia gum to advance skin and hair care sectors through tightening and lifting applications, such as Easyliance, its ‘instant skin tightener’.

Designer and manufacturer of personal care ingredients, Gattefossé, is leveraging the popularity of the pollution-protectant segment by releasing a PEG-free emulsifier called Emulium mellifera that contains benefits to support the impact of the environment and active moisturisation.

Anti-ageing and anti-wrinkle finds

Developers are increasingly creating ingenious formulations applied in cleansers, moisturisers and natural products to boost the advancement of the anti-ageing and anti-wrinkle segments.

“Asian skincare inspired products and no-rinse cleansing are drawing consumer interest,” said Shannon Romanowski, Director of Health, Household, Beauty & Personal Care at Mintel.

“Appealing to men and women aged 18-34, Hispanics and ageing boomers will be instrumental to driving future growth,” highlighted Romanowski.

The anti-ageing and anti-wrinkle product trail will see Korean cosmetics ingredients manufacturer, ActivOn, talk formulators through its newest product, ActivNeo-Pep. The biological ingredients support the hybridisation trend by providing anti-ageing support through its collagen synthesis, as well as wound healing.

Korean ingredients producer, Woosung, focuses on providing preservative-free formulations. Its Glycacid Eco product is derived from white throat mushroom and shiitake mushrooms to moisturise and improve the appearance of wrinkles.

DKSH, the Asia-focused expansion services provider, will display Ectoin at in-cosmetics, which provides anti-ageing benefits by limiting skin ageing through improved hydration and nourishment during exposure to UV and other detrimental environmental factors.
