The International Natural and Organic Cosmetics Association (Natrue) and Organic accreditation Service (IOAS) have launched a global accreditation program that aims to consolidate their existing accreditation offerings to cosmetic players worldwide.
The aim is to consolidate the footprint for Natrue and to increase its reach into all markets, including Europe, The Americas and the fast-growing Asia Pacific region.
The accreditation program is expected to be up and running by September 2013, giving current Natrue Approved Certifiers and new certifiers an appropriate window of time to launch the new application process.
Extending the reach for accreditation
Julie Tyrrell, director general of Natrue stated that the partnership with IOAS bought new experience and capabilities: "Their deep knowledge of the organic sector and the commitment of building trust for organic consumers make IOAS the perfect partner for this important step for Natrue"
Although such certification programs are well established in developed markets in North America and Europe, many more developing markets, particularly in Asia Pacific and Latin America, remain more fragmented and less cohesive.
Natrue is already one of the largest and best recognized accreditation programs and is currently used as a guarantee seal of natural and organic authenticity by over 100 brands. The organization has built its recognition through working with more than 20 approved certifiers worldwide.
IOAS brings international reputation
The IOAS Accreditation Program will build on Natrue’s reputation to bring internationally recognized procedures for the accreditation of certification bodies that incorporate the Natrue label scheme.
"The IOAS’s origins and focus have always been in support of the integrity of organic production and trade, so extending our activity with the well-respected NATRUE Label seems a natural step,” said Dr David Crucefix, Executive Director (Business) of the IOAS.
“We very much look forward to assisting NATRUE in growing the organic and natural cosmetics market"
