Gpskin partners with K-Beauty brand to make “clinical-level” skin care more accessible
Handheld device Gpskin Barrier is partnering with LaStella Cellif Microbalm in its quest to enable consumers to monitor and care for their skin from the comfort of home.

Under the partnership, LaStella Cellif Microbalm will be sold together with the Ggpskin Barrier on LaStella’s online store as an official recommendation.

“The collaboration of the Gpskin Barrier device and LaStella Cellif Microbalm gives consumers access to affordable clinic-level skincare at home. A device which can measure skin condition exactly is an essential for scientific and smart skin care,” said Dr Raymond Park, founder of NeoPharm, a company which produces K-Beauty brands such as LaStella and Atopalm.

Park also invested and helped to develop Gpskin Barrier with his research and findings on the skin barrier.

Zooming in on the skin barrier

According to Park, the compatibility of the products stem from their focus on the skin barrier.

“The skin barrier is very important for beautiful and healthy skin,” said Park. “LaStella Cellif Microbalm and Gpskin Barrier focus on the same skin issues and work together to care for the skin barrier.”

The Gpskin Barrier is the first personal skin barrier measurement device to measure Transepidermal water loss and Stratum Corneum Hydration, said Park. In 2017, it won the Johnson & Johnson’s Seoul Innovation Quickfire Challenge.

On the other hand, LaStella Cellif Microbalm is formulated with patented Crystal micro encapsulation system that is designed to decrease water loss through the skin and improve hydration levels.

Based on results from the device, consumers can be more informed on how to apply LaStella Cellif Microbalm for maximum effectiveness.

“Our formula together with a device that monitors skin’s health enables the consumer to strengthen and support their skin in a way they previously could not,” commented Park.

He added: “The pairing provides the most scientific evidence to consumers of the effectiveness of monitoring and caring for the skin barrier. People will actually be able to see and experience the quantifiable results of this skincare system.”

Following the trends

Even though the collaboration is in its early stages, Park revealed that the product pair-up is already generating sales.

He suggested that it could be due to the popularity of LaStella in the Asian region and hopes it will boost awareness of the device.

“LaStella Celiff Microbalm is a popular skincare product in Asia and has been selling in exclusive boutiques, such as Bonjour in Hong Kong, so now it’s important for more people to become aware of the device.”

Park believes there is a demand for the Gpskin Barrier because of the current big data and personalisation trends in the skin care market.

“As more and more cosmetic companies attempt to offer personalised products, they will need reliable skin data from their customers. Therefore, the demand for skin measurement tools is expected to rise sharply in the next five years.”

Additionally, Park expects the collaboration between at-home skin measurement tools and products to increase over time. “It is a new research and marketing method that enables clinical research and the marketing of products at the same time.”

While the device can help consumers to achieve beautiful skin, Park said the goal is to help consumers with more serious skin conditions.

“We hope to increase the home use of the device for people who suffer more serious issues from dry and sensitive skin. The skin barrier is very important to diagnosis of atopic dermatitis and this device can be used to manage, monitor, and even help prevent chronic skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis or eczema.”
