Korean pop band wins court battle against cosmetics firm

South Korean pop band FT Island has won its court battle against Dereon Cosmetics over the prolonged use of their image and endorsement.

The Seoul Central District Court’s civil court ruled in favour of the musicians and their agency FNC Music and ordered Dereon to pay 40 million won to FT Island.

The whole furore comes down to Dereon’s prolonged use of FT Island’s endorsement  of its Baviphat cosmetics line.

The band had previously signed on to endorse the Baviphat line in Korea for six months last year; however Dereon Cosmetics continued to use FT Island as its product model long after the contract’s conclusion.
