This change means that Samir Singh, currently Global Brand Vice President Lifebuoy and Vice President - Personal Care Lead, South Asia Cluster, Unilever, will be appointed as Executive Director of the new Personal Care, HUL, unit.
“We have reorganised the Home and Personal Care business into two separate businesses to ensure focus on the growth drivers for each of these businesses,” says Sanjiv Mehta, CEO & Managing Director, HUL.
Who is Samir Singh?
Singh joined HUL in 1997 and has worked in various roles in the company and across the Regional and Global Unilever organisation.
He has worked across many brands including Fair & Lovely, Vaseline, Ponds, and has also worked in Foods in Customer Development in India.
For the last 4 years he has been the Global Brand Vice President for soap brand Lifebuoy and a member of the Global Category Leadership Team for Skin Cleansing.
In this role, he has led global strategy, innovation and communication for Lifebuoy in more than 30 key countries across the world, and was also the Personal Care Cluster Lead for South Asia in 2014.
Company changes
The decision to appoint Singh was brought on by other changes in the Management Committee of the Company. Subject to Unilever Indonesia's external board approval, Hemant Bakshi, will be appointed as Executive Vice President of Unilever Indonesia, leaving his post overseeing the HPC business.
“I wish to take the opportunity to express my deep appreciation for the significant contribution that Hemant has made to the India business, both in his current role as Executive Director - HPC and his earlier role as Executive Director – CD,” Mehta adds.
With Singh heading up Personal Care, Priya Nair, currently Vice President - Laundry, HUL, will be appointed as Executive Director – Home Care, with both appointments effective October 1, 2014.
