Vinosun Very High Protection SPF 50+ Sun Water is one of the latest additions to Caudalie’s sun care range, which was successfully revamped last year.
“We initiated the relaunch of our sun care range last year with the launch of one SKU, Vinosun Very High Protection Lightweight Cream SPF 50+. This was hugely successful and gave us the confidence to extend the range to two new SKUs, Vinosun Very High Protection SPF 50+ Sun Water and Vinosun High Protection SPF 50 Cream,” said Bertrand Thomas, co-founder, Caudalie.
The product was designed as a non-aerosol spray format for easy and even application of its bi-phase formula. According to the firm, the product is absorbed quickly into the skin without leaving it feeling greasy.
Convenience in a bottle
The development of the sun water was driven by the need for new formats and sophisticated textures that tackle common complaints about sunscreen, including uncomfortable sticky formulas and the dreaded white cast.
“More and more consumers are looking for lightweight, invisible sun care formulas which they can wear all year round,” said Thomas.
He added that the brand saw an opportunity to tap into the thriving sun care market in SEA, where it is available exclusively through long-time retail partner, Sephora.
“The sun care market is booming in Sephora SEA. Consumers are looking for new modern textures that are easy to apply. Many of them are very well-informed and are looking for cleaner brands, which will give them not only the right protection and will not damage their skin or the planet.
“Vinosun Very High Protection SPF 50+ Sun Water effectively protects the body and hair from UVA/UVB while providing an antioxidant action for the most sensitive skin. Its invisible texture, half-water and half-oil, absorbs fast without feeling greasy and leaves a gentle fragrance on the skin.”
Earlier this year, Japanese personal care brand Bioré also launched a non-aerosol spray sunscreen that has been well-received by consumers.
According to parent company Kao Corporation, Bioré UV Aqua Rich Aqua Protect Mist has surpassed five million units in sales in four and half months in Japan.
The product has also garnered multiple awards in Japan, further signalling high demand for this easy-to-use format.
It has since been made available in other markets, such as Hong Kong and Singapore.
Completing the Vinosun range
In addition to the Vinosun, the brand also launched Vinosun High Protection SPF 50 Cream.
It’s a highly natural and effective daily protection from the sun that will help prevent wrinkles and fight antioxidants. This sunscreen offers the skin maximum UVA/UVB protection for a natural, radiant, long-lasting tan while preserving its youthful look. Enriched with organic grape water, it is light and creamy, non-sticky texture moisturises and soothes sensitive skin.
According to the firm, the new formulas combine a system of filters with a patented antioxidant complex enriched with grape polyphenols, offering “maximum protection and a powerful anti-wrinkle action”, said Thomas.
He added that the firm opted not to use certain “controversial” UV filters such as octocrylene, and oxybenzone.
“For our new sun care range, we didn’t want to compromise between protecting the skin and protecting nature.”
