Sustainable Cosmetics Summit Hong Kong faces up to green challenges

The Asia chapter of the Sustainable Cosmetics Summit is due to open its doors November 11 – 13 in Hong Kong, when the many challenges of going green will be at the forefront of discussions.

The three day event will include a two full day conference presentation programme, together with two very unique workshops that are planned for the third and final day.

The conference programme is divided into four different sessions devoted to completely different topics that will be presented as individual morning and afternoon sessions on each day.

On November 11th​ the sessions will start off with a keynote speech, before session one is opened up with a focus on sustainable sourcing and biodiversity, while the afternoon session will be focused on novel green ingredients.

Ethicial sourcing and biodiversity

The sustainable sourcing session will focus on ethical sourcing and biodiversity and how that is impacting manufacturers and suppliers across Asia Pacific, while the green ingredients session will closely look at novel green solutions and will be topped off by a panel discussion that will address the complexities of this area.

On the second day of the programme, November 12th​, the morning session will look at marketing and distribution innovations specific to natural and organic cosmetics, while the afternoon session will be devoted to a regulations and standards update.

The marketing and distribution session will look at how brands work with the different sales channels and product positioning, while the regulations and standards presentation will look at the various legislative hoops in different markets across the region and discuss the different tools available to tackle them.

Workshops on social media and green formulation

On November the 13th​, the workshop will include a morning session devoted to formulating natural and organic cosmetics, together with an afternoon session that will look at how to make the most out of social media and digital marketing.

The formulating workshop will look at the current tools that are available to formulators of natural and green cosmetic products to help them overcome technical challenges and obstacles associated with such products, with a particular look at viable alternatives to synthetic ingredients.

Meanwhile, the social media and marketing workshop will be focused on how to maximize on the marketing potential provided by the various social media and digital marketing tools, as well as pointing out the many potential pitfalls this area throws up.
