Contract manufacturer and packaging developer Maesa Group has created a number of new roles in an attempt to expand the business.

The appointments are all based in Maesa’a New York office and will touch on packaging and product development as well as supporting the quality assurance processes of the company.

Color cosmetics and skin care

To drive new developments in the color cosmetics, skin care and fragrance sectors, the company has appointed Tamar Kamen as the director of product development.

Kamen, who was working for Estee Lauder in its skin care division, will work with retailers to develop new brands, according to Maesa.

Quality assurance

Phil Fantozzi has joined Maesa Group as the director of quality assurance.

Quality assurance at the company was previously the responsibility of the operations team, but with the appointment of Fantozzi, a new department has been created, Maesa’s vice president of marketing Scott Kestenbaum explained.

“Phil will be responsible for formalizing package & product testing protocols, establishing Quality Control criteria, and building an organization to conduct Quality Assurance & Quality Control inspections at all Maesa manufacturers and subcontractors,” he told CosmeticsDesign.com USA.

This will cover operations in the US as well as manufacturing facilities in China.

Packaging

Packaging at the company will benefit from the appointment of Michele Mazzilli as director of package development. Previously at Coty, Mazzilli has over 20 years experience in the packaging industry.

Mazzalli will be joined by Glenn Tatem in the packaging development team.

Other recent appointments at the company include Jimmy Silberman as account manager, Falon D’Amato as project manager, and Jonathan Li as senior accountant.

The France-headquartered company has been expanding in the US since it opened its first subsidiary in New York in 2007.

Early 2009 saw the acquisition of US packaging provider Zorbit Resources which the company has been integrating into its operations over the year.
