Entries for the 2010 edition of the international packaging design awards competition, Pentawards, are now being accepted.

Packaging designers, suppliers and brand owners are invited to submit entries online across 44 subcategories that span five sectors; Luxury, Body, Other Markets, Food and Beverage.

Entries must be for packaging created or brought out in 2009 or 2010, and category winners will be awarded the Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum Pentawards. The entry judged to be the best from all the submissions received will scoop the Diamond Pentaward.

Submissions will be judged by an international jury chaired by Gerard Carron, the founder of French design agency Carré Noir.

Other jurors include Yoji Nobuto from Japanese cosmetics company Shiseido and Michael Aidan from Danone Waters in France.

Platinum Body award 2009

The 2009 platinum Pentaward in the Body category went to a submission from New York-based design agency Wolff Olins, which created the graphics for Living Proof’s No Frizz hair care line

The hair styling products are packaged in grey bottles featuring bright white caps aimed at differentiating the range from other styling products on salon shelves.

Living Proof only

The packaging was created by M&H Plastics USA, which produced sleek and refined packaging with a simple design to target the upmarket consumer. The company moulded and decorated the custom-made bottle, while Asia Dispensing produced the mould cap.

Many other designs for cosmetics and personal care packaging were honoured at the 2009 edition of Pentawards. Products from Colgate-Palmolive, Kao Corporation, Shiseido and Selective Beauty, amongst others, were recognised for their innovative packaging.
