The company manufactures a wide range of silicon-based ingredients for use in a number of sectors including skin care and hair care.
Recently appointed Stewart Long is the market strategy leader for the skin care business, and his role is to help commercialise applications of silicone-based ingredients and technologies in the sector.
One of the projects Long will be focusing on is investigating the potential of the silicone-based ingredients and technologies to combine with naturally derived ingredients, a company spokesperson explained.
“The intention is to deliver benefits for consumers who want beauty care products derived from plants but at the same time want the performance features that silicones can bring,” the spokesperson told CosmeticsDesign.com USA.
In addition, Long will be looking at potential uses for silicones in anti-aging and sun care formulations, as well as expanding into new regions with the product portfolio.
“In addition, the company is expanding its activities in geographies such as China and India to meet local needs,” the spokesperson said.
Long’s knowledge of new technologies to help drive growth
Prior to working for Dow Corning, Long worked for Alliance Boots and Unilever, where he identified new market opportunities and potential for innovation in the sector.
“Stewart’s understanding of emerging technologies, coupled with his experience in the personal care industry, will enable us to help customers meet challenges in new and expanded ways,” said Sahoko Takeuchi, global beauty care industry director for Dow Corning.
