User friendly and green packaging is more important than ever, according to a Taiwan-based packaging manufacturer.

TYH Containers claims increasing environmental consciousness and the need for a ‘simple’ lifestyle are the main influences on consumers’ behaviour.

Beauty products are on the rise in Asia, amongst men and women, in turn stiffening the competition in the cosmetics market, and packaging is seen as way companies can differentiate themselves in the marketplace.

Simplicity and green are popular trends

TYH claims the tendency towards decoration and accessories in cosmetics packaging is taking a back burner, while environmentally-friendly and easy-to-use products are in the forefront.

The two main styling trends are the green cosmetics containers catering to natural organic products, and functional, ease of usage containers, leading to a prominent position of plastic containers in cosmetics packaging said Ms. Yuka Chang, CEO of TYH Containers.

User friendly packages

According to Chang, consumers do not want more complexity added to their daily beauty rituals, meaning the popularity of user friendly packaging is on the rise.

Particularly in cosmetics and skin care segments, functional, portable packaging is in demand, and companies must adapt their packaging in response to the ‘on-the-go’ modern lifestyle.

The packaging manufacturer supplies and processes various containers made of PMMA, SAN, AS, ABS, PS, PE, PP and PETG, as they provide a durable and cost effective solution for the cosmetics industry.

Green cosmetic packaging

The trend towards green packaging highlighted by Chang, has been gathering pace in Europe this summer as organisations start to highlight the green container products are sold in.

Natural beauty products featuring organic ingredients are increasingly judged by the consumer for the containers they come in as attempts are being made to diminish the impact packaging waste has on global warming and emission of greenhouse gas.

Furthermore, the ETMA ‘Tube of the Year’ awards focused on sustainable packaging, and the announcement that Luxe Pack Monaco will debut a sustainability award for environmentally-friendly packaging.
