Stila grabs top prize at HBA Global packaging awards

Stila's Color Wheel Palette was given the grand award winner for the International Packaging Award competition, announced at the HBA global event in New York, yesterday.

The packaging was assessed by a committee of 100 judges, known as the Committe of 100, a collection of industry professionals, including packaging designers, a variety of suppliers, marketing companies and trade media.

The Committee selected all of the finalists and runners up for each of the 11 individual categores, based on criteria that demonstrated outstanding acheivements for originality, design concept, creative use of materials, components and decoration, together with technical competency and effective branding message.

Stila secures top prize and prestige award

Stila's Color Wheel Palette also scooped the award for the prestige category, in which it was up against entries from Royalty Lipsticks by ybf beauty, Peony Blossoms Lip Pots by Estee Lauder and Black Magic from Ultra Fresh. Stila's entry had eye-catching aesthetics. The Stila design serves to package color cosmetics such as eye shadow in a functional yet stylish manner.

All the prize winners are currently being showcased on the HBA Global show floor, at booth No. 721, but for those that are unable to check the winners out for themselves, here is a quick run through of the prize winners and runners up for each of the ten other categories.

In the Cosmetics Mass category Super Stay 24 Color by Maybelline New York and submitted by HLP Klearfold was awarded the top prize, beating other finalists that included Revlon Custom Eyes, Organic Wear 100% Natural Origina Jumbo Lash Mascara from Physicians Formula, together with Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage Cream Make-up.

Mass and prestige fragrance prizes

In the Fragrance Mass category, Flight by Michael Jordan and submitted by Five Star Fragrance, was awarded the top prize, while the other finalists included BUD Budapest, submitted by the The Scent of Departure, 1200' submitted by L'Bel and Thinking of You from Mary Kay.

The top prize in the Prestige Fragrance category was secured by Happ & Stahns Rosa Alba by Anthropologie and submitted by Interparfums, while the runners up included Blue de Chanel, Bang by Marc Jacobs and Poppy by Coach.

In the mass personal care category, the top prize was awarded to L'Oreal Root Resuce 10 Minute Root Coloring Kit, submitted by Alison Brod PR, while other finalists included Softsoap pampered hands from Colgate-Palmolive, Essence of Beauty Body Care from CVS Pharmacy, Axe Shower Gel from Unilever and Camay by P&G.

Mass and prestige skin care

In the skin care Mass segment, the top prize went to teen's nature by Yuhan-Kimberly and submitted by Kimberly-Clark, while the runners up included L'Oreal's Paris Youth Code Eye Cream and Toleriane ultra from Roche-Possay. In the skin care prestige segment, the top prize went to b.right! Radiant Skincare by Benefit Cosmetics and submited by Maesa, while the other finalists included Naruko Taiwan Magnolia Skincare Range by Naruko, SK-II Skin Signature and Celumination from P&G Prestige.

The top prize for Personal Care Prestige went to Ojon Volume Advance: Volumizing Brush on Mousse by Ojon and submitted by Estee Lauder, while runners up included 21 Drops Aromatherapy Blends, Victoria's Secret Bombshell Body Mist and Biomega from Aquage.

The Green Packaging prize went to Artisan Botanical Perfume by Pacific Perfumers, while other finalists included geoGIRL Cosmetics, Mother Earth Essentials Hotel Amenity Line and Aveda Grounding Ritual Candle. For Sample Packaging, the top prize when to Obagi Travel Size by Obagi Medical Products, while the top prize for Tools and At Home Devices went to Brush With Genius by Bare Escentuals.
