Solabia has announced it is to unveil new pre- and pro-biotic active ingredients that the company says have been specifically developed to treat acne, atopic dermatitis and sensitive skin at this year’s in-cosmetics event in Barcelona next month.

We don’t just present innovation in active ingredients; we also delve into relevant technical advances and new application methods,” says a company spokesperson.

According to Solabia, its antibacterial products are unlike those currently used in the cosmetic industry, while certain newly developed actives, Viniderm and Teflose are set to be showcased at the trade show.

Actives

Anti-oxidant active Viniderm, derived from a patented process of bioconversion of resveratrol into delta-viniferin, has been said to have provided an alternative approach for the Solabia as it preserves the skin’s youthfulness by protecting stem cell niches and mitochondrial DNA whilst reducing the signs of aging by redensifying the extra-cellular matrix.

Teflose on the other hand is a natural branched polysaccharide, rhamnose-rich, that’s obtained by bacterial fermentation. According to the company, it plays the role of an anti-adhesive protective cover while also helping to modulate the inflammatory response generated by microbial stress, to decrease the feeling of discomfort.

In-cosmetics

This year’s in-cosmetics event, held at the Gran Via exhibition centre in Barcelona from 17-19 April 2012, promises to be bigger than previous editions with already 11,700 m2 of floor space booked and over 530 exhibitors signed up.

The event will play host to more than 50 new exhibitors from countries including China, Korea and Switzerland, as well as welcoming back companies such as Croda, DSM and Merck.
