Nanotech trend focus sees Cosmoprof Asia anticipate big success
The organisers of beauty show Cosmoprof Asia expect it to be a big success following a nine per cent growth in exhibition space, and a focus on the key trends, such as nanotechnology use in skin care.

Taking place on 14-16 November 2012, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, the show will attract more than 1,800 exhibitors and over 48,500 attendees, according to organiser figures.

The new trend for the cosmetics arena focused on at the show this year is the application of nanotechnologies in the production of skin care and make-up formulas with functional ingredients such as vitamins, active principles and filters subject to degradation when exposed to the air.

Growth opportunities

Other areas of growth opportunity forecast for the industry, which the event will look at, includes holistic and multi-functional products in the skin care sector. BB cream, which can hydrate, protect and brighten skin at the same time, is a particularly good example.

“At Cosmoprof Asia 2012, there will [also] be an increase in the men's toiletries area with men's skin care products using active principles that are very similar to women's except for their fragrances,” says a Cosmoprof statement.

In hair care, natural is the main trend, which consists of using raw materials in products to obtain biodegradability equal to 99 per cent.

Beauty coverage

The five product sectors in the show will cover the entire spectrum of the beauty industry: Cosmetics & Toiletries (perfumery, cosmetics and toiletries), Pack & OEM (packaging solutions), Beauty Salon, Hair Salon and Natural Health.

The exhibition floor space will increase by 9 per cent over 2011, with the extension into the Grand Hall to accommodate the increasing number of exhibitors catering to the Beauty Salon sector.

Canada and Brazil are the new entries this year joining the other mainstay countries/regions - Australia, Belgium, mainland China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Korea, Pakistan, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, UK and the USA -- in forming national pavilions.
