New Zealand organic skin care brand expands into Europe
Although the line was only launched four months ago, company founder Carol Priest is eyeing global expansion of the brand and believes the fast pace of the UK market is likely to make it a good launch pad for the brand’s international roll out.
The UK is one of the biggest markets in Europe for natural and cosmetics products, and has continued to deliver high single digit growth figures year-on-year, even during the current economic downtown, where other industry categories have remained largely stagnant.
Purely Natural Cosmetics
Priest, who has established the line with her two daughters, has secured a has secured a distribution contract with Purely Natural Cosmetics, which specialises in the distribution of natural and organic cosmetic and personal care products.
The company is based in the small city of Nelson, in New Zealand’s North Island, and because of the brands modest origins, Priest believes the start of international distribution is a major step for the flourishing organic industry in the region.
“The Nelson region is abundant with high quality organic produce, and using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible in our products is central to the Plantæ philosophy,” said Priest.
“The partnership with our UK distributor is an exciting opportunity to gain international recognition for our products and to help shine the spotlight on the burgeoning Nelson organics industry.”
BioGro organic certified
Purely Natural Cosmetics says that it has had positive feedback from existing Plantæ consumers, and has been encouraged by the quality and standards of the product line, which includes a range of skin care creams and cleansers that are certified 95 per cent organic.
"Plantæ’s entire skincare range is certified organic by BioGro, New Zealand’s premium, leading organic certifying authority. The BioGro logo appears on all Plantæ products because each one contains a minimum of ninety-five percent organically sourced ingredients. This was crucial to us because we only accept the highest quality organic cosmetics," said Jana Cevelova, marketing director of Purely Natural Cosmetics.
