The third Skin Care Ingredients online show opened its doors yesterday to a packed programme of conference presentations, the latest ingredients launches and booths featuring some of the biggest ingredients players.

Having already subscribed to the event, attendees were first navigated to the welcome area, where they viewed an orientation video explaining about how the event works, how to chat with other participants using the chat boxes on the screen, and more details about how to access the conference programme.

The packed conference programme kicked off at 10am CEST and finished at 6pm, cluing in on some of the most pertinent trends and happenings in the skin care industry. Each of the presentations also included a Q&A session, where viewers had the opportunity to pose questions to the experts.

There were a total of five keynote webinar presentations, including a state of the market presentation from Euromonitor International’s Irina Barbalova and Nicole Tyrimou, who explained all the key trends driving this segment right now.

While L'Oréal India's Arshdeep Kaur Joshi also spoke about the claims made about skin care products and what exactly we can get away with.

Skin care beauty devices

Following on from that there was a presentation concerning the fast-growing skin care devices market, from Dominique du Crest, an expert and consultant in the field of cosmetic dermatology.

Anti-ageing is always on the radar for skin care professionals and bringing us up to speed on what’s happening in this area was Steve Barton, director of Skin Thinking, and Xianghong Yan, Senior Scientist and Manager, SK-II Global Technical Marketing at Procter & Gamble.

Finally, leading anti-ageing ingredients specialist Mibelle featured its head of research Daniel Schmid, who discussed the company’s latest innovation, which focuses on the use of Keratinocyte-Fibroblast communication to promote the biosynthesis of matrix fibers in the dermis.

As a reminder, all of the conference presentations will also be available as a recording to subscribers for one month, even though the event is finished.

Building on the success of last year's event

This year the event was expected to build on the success of the 2012 event, which attracted a global audience that included 3,225 registrants spanning 85 countries, as well as audiences reaching over 1,000 viewers for the individual webinar conference presentations.
