Symrise further invests in African market to strengthen presence

Symrise is strengthening its presence in the fast-growing West African with a new location in Lagos, Nigeria which will cover the Scent & Care and Flavour & Nutrition segments.

The company has been investing in both segments throughout Africa for nearly 30 years, and will use its' experience in local markets to develop specifically tailored products. 

The new location, 'Nigeria LTD' will house sales and marketing offices as well as application laboratories, which will be situated in a business park in the Ikeja suburb of Lagos State.

According to Symrise, at its' opening ceremony on October 15, local and international dignitaries and business representatives gathered to see the company's work with long standing agent Allied Technol Systems.

With about 175 million inhabitants, abundant mineral and national resources, Nigeria has the potential to become one of the top 10 economies in the world. Already today, the country is Africa’s largest economy and one of the fastest growing on the continent and seen as gateway to West Africa​,” said CEO, Dr. Heinz-Jürgen Bertram at the ceremony.

With a goal to intensify its' presence in this market, the brand says it will focus on developing specifically tailored flavours and fragrances while closely working with government and regulatory authorities.

"With our local infrastructure, we will be able to offer customers closer support as well as faster, more direct dialogue to anticipate and satisfy their needs and market requirements."

The company in Lagos will also enjoy support through frequent visits from experts and managers from the Europe, Africa, Middle East Region.

Investment is key 

Back in 2009, Symrise acquired fragrance and flavours maker Futura Labs to tap into opportunities in the fast growing regions of North Africa and the Middle East.

Futura Labs specialises in flavours and natural extracts for the food and beverage industry, and also produces perfume oils fine fragrance, cosmetic and household products.

With production facilities in Cairo and Dubai, Futura Labs is operating in some of the fastest growing regions of the world. By acquiring the company, Symrise could take on these dynamic markets.
