The organisers of the in-cosmetics Asia trade show, taking place 4-6 November at the BITEC in Bangkok, have announced the shortlist for this year’s Innovation Zone Best Ingredient Award.

The Award honours the development of novel actives or functional ingredients that combine scientific excellence, formulation benefits for manufacturers and efficacy for consumers when compared to other products currently available on the market.

There have been ten ingredients shortlisted for the accolade, which will be presented at an award ceremony on the exhibition show floor at 2pm on Wednesday, 5 November.

The ten finalists for the Innovation Zone Best Ingredient Award 2014 are:

  • Ashland with GP4G SP
  • BASF with Tinosorb
  • DSM Nutritional Products Asia Pacific with VALVANCE
  • Evonik with Tego Sulfosuccinate DO 75
  • Gattefosse with EMULIUM MELLIFERA
  • Ichimaru Pharcos with CinderellaCare
  • Induchem with Redensyl
  • Lipotec with ACTIGYM
  • Mibelle Biochemistry with Snow Algae Powder
  • NuSil Technology with CareSil CES

These ten hopefuls will be looking to emulate the success of last year's Gold winner Lucas Meyer Cosmetics, which took home the prize for its breakthrough ingredient Elix-IR.

The ten shortlisted ingredients were selected from amongst the many new innovations set to be displayed in the show's Innovation Zone, which provides inspiration for product development, and includes ingredients launched exclusively at the show or within the last eight months of the event.

This year’s shortlist was put together by an expert panel of judges including Alain Khaiat of Seers Consulting, Karl Lintner, President of KAL’IDEES S.A.S., Jack Ferguson, founder of Skinnovation Ltd and Marc Pissavini, Director of Basic & Applied Research at Coty-Lancaster Group.
