Azelis and Tagra Biotechnologies team up to launch skin care actives and pigments in India, Australia and New Zealand.

Azelis is the exclusive distributor of Tagra Biotechnologies’ range of RND microencapsulated actives and pigments in India, Australia and New Zealand for all personal care applications.

The global speciality chemicals distributor created a distribution agreement with Tagra Biotechnologies, a hub for speciality cosmetic ingredients, to sell a range of its product lines in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

The new partnership, which came into force in September, builds on existing agreements in Europe and Canada.

Tagra Biotechnologies combines the development and manufacturing of innovative encapsulated actives and pigments, which is growing in popularity in the APAC region.

The Release on Demand (RND) Microencapsulation Technology is a patented method that helps the release of non-water soluble ingredients.

This technology is compliant with international cosmetic regulations and suitable for a wide range of formulations. It helps produce encapsulated ingredients including actives, vitamins, essential oils, flavonoids, silicons, pigments and sunscreens for a wide variety of applications throughout the region.

Together we aim to offer customers high-quality technical service and innovative application insights,” said Lito Ickowicz, Director Business Development, Tagra Biotechnologies.

“Tagra's highly innovative ingredients are a welcome addition to our portfolio, fitting well with our strategy to focus on specialities and create value for our Asia Pacific customers,” added Laurent Nataf, CEO & President Asia Pacific.

Sun care leading skin care

As the skin care sector remains powerful in APAC, brands are now looking to evolve R&D with new features, including UV filters.

CDA reported the rise of UV filters as a leading trend in the Asia-Pacific market APAC in July. Growing demand for skin care products containing multi-functional benefits and increasing consumer awareness and demand for products lines with sun protective qualities are leading the sun care ingredients trend.

Euromonitor also emphasised the rising use of sun care products during outdoor activities and sun protection.
