The in-cosmetics Asia trade event is ‘a celebration’ of the beauty and personal care industry and its innovative nature, according to the show’s organiser.

Speaking to Cosmetics Design at the recent event, Sarah Gibson, exhibition director, spoke of the sense of excitement and festivity she believes the show involves.

Celebration, gathering and knowledge-sharing

Gibson explained that she picked out the theme of celebration after surveying the opinions of various attendees of the show.

“We were just asking around: what do you feel, how do you feel about the show? And from that I could think of the word, and it’s simple: it’s celebration,” said the show lead. “This is how I feel at the show this year, it’s a celebration.”

She noted that there’s especial enthusiasm among visitors for the focus on education and knowledge-sharing: “Everybody’s so eager to learn the knowledge - to know the new products, the skills of hands-on training, they come to the spotlights to understand our key areas of focus and pick up the leaflets.”

Recognition

Gibson explained that celebration was a theme that recurred, particularly the idea of celebrating those members of the industry who don’t often get such recognition.

“We were talking to visitors who come here: for example, we have a senior researchers from Johnson & Johnson talking about the formulation lab, the formulation challenge that we’re thinking about doing next year.

“She said that the number of features on the show floor and the exhibitors coming from global makes her feel that that we really understand what R&D. She also said it’s becoming such a gathering, and that we’re also doing things to celebrate the people who are always behind the scenes, the research people.”

Gibson explained that formulators across the board had expressed this sense of recognition as a key element to the show.

The event took place earlier this month, 8 - 10 November in Bangkok, Thailand. Numbers at this edition reached an ‘all-time high’, according to organisers.
