Social shopping community for global Chinese expats, Dealmoon, welcomes more luxury brands for this year’s Singles Day.

Taking place on 11th November 2017, the annual entertainment festival, known as Singles Day, will this year span to four continents with a selection of luxury brands.

There are an estimated 6.3 million Chinese nationals currently live in the US., Canada, the UK. and Australia. In these markets, the consumer landscape and preferences gear towards disposable incomes and high-end sellers.

A social community

This year, Dealmoon will extend its annual Singles Day event by providing offers to over 500 stores. As a result of the presence of Chinese expats in four continents, Dealmoon’s Singles Day will include offers from US, Canadian, British, Australian and Chinese brands and stores.

"Dealmoon has expanded in step with the diaspora of Chinese consumers around the world," noted Jennifer Wang, Dealmoon co-founder and chief marketing officer.

Commenting on the importance of the social nature of the community, Wang went on to say: "We're meeting their needs wherever they are, propelled by a social shopping experience that keeps us closely in tune with the Dealmoon community, enabling us to curate great offers just for them.

“Our Singles Day 2017 selection includes our community's favourite items from the previous year — including fashion, beauty and skincare items — along with surprises and giveaways," said Wang.

Celebrating singledom

Singles Day was first created by China's Nanjing University students in 1993 as “a celebration of pride for the unattached”.

In 2011, Dealmoon integrated with top Chinese social platform Weibo, to broaden its reach to Chinese consumers around the world.

With a combined following between Dealmoon's Weibo and WeChat of 20 million, the platform offers product and shopping tips.

Global reach

E-commerce giant, Alibaba, made Singles Day a “national phenomenon for Chinese consumers”.

Belle & Bloom, a Sydney-based designer of genuine leather handbags and accessories, features on Dealmoon: "We've known for some time that our items appeal to higher-end Chinese consumers," said Orit Stern, Belle & Bloom's global sales and marketing director.

"It's a market we'd like to expand, so we're really excited to be working with Dealmoon to extend our reach globally and deepen our understanding of this consumer," added Stern.

Dealmoon's fifth annual Singles Day event, which is expected to be its largest to date, will make offers from 5th November to 15th November.
