PCHi 2018 preview: China in focus
Personal Care and Homecare Ingredients (PCHi), China’s leading sourcing platform for the global personal care industry, will feature at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Centre (SWEECC) from 19th – 21st March 2018.
Event organisers Reed Sinopharm Exhibitions (RSE) anticipates welcoming over 20,000 international trade professionals through its doors, seeking the newest ingredients and innovations to enter the personal care sphere.
Spanning 32,000 sqm this year, industry experts will also be providing the latest insights on products, technology and the regulatory landscape.
Chinese personal care
In 2015, the China cosmetics market was estimated to be worth $39.13 bn (€31.49 bn) and will grow at a CAGR of 10.23% over the forecast period to $63.69 (€51.25 bn) bn by 2020, revealed Research and Markets.
Despite economists seeing a slowing growth in the Chinese economy, the nation is still the second largest cosmetics market in the world, with colour cosmetics sectors such as lip care and e-commerce opportunities showing success.
International attendees
Global brands such as DSM, Givaudan, Nikkol Group, Huntsman P&A, and Croda will occupy the event’s expanded space, which will comprise a total of over 530 exhibitors — with over 40% travelling from all over the world.
“We facilitate meetings and exchange between the domestic and international crowds — whether suppliers, manufacturers, service providers, or knowledge experts,” expressed Peter LIU, Project Manager at RSE.
“Our thorough understanding of the market and our wide connections have enabled us to play this role well, and we’ll continue to develop this strength to maintain our leadership position.”
Products and packaging
The 2018 event will highlight a variety of Asia and global product releases, specifically a UV protection enhancer, a natural polymer for smoother formulations, powders that enable better dispersions, a skin conditioning fruit extract, an anti-ageing neuro-balm, and other natural extracts with specific applications.
The packaging space is also one that is at the forefront of brand innovation and development with design trends, manufacturing technologies and material innovation featuring at the Packaging Innovation Zone, which is presented in conjunction with global intelligence agency, Mintel.
Conference sessions and events
The PCHi Conference programme offers attendees expert information and updates on technologies, rules, regulations and packaging solutions. The majority of conference sessions will be presented in Mandarin, with a select number delivered in English, Japanese and Korean.
The Chinese Personal Care Market will specifically cover information and news on the regulatory climate and market trends.
RSE will hold a gala dinner on 19th March 2018 to commend the industry’s growth and development, along with celebrating the contributions that both individuals and organisations have made to the personal care industry.
2018 PCHi Fountain Awards
Organisers will announce the winners of the 2018 PCHi Fountain Awards at the gala event, which have been chosen from over 100 submissions.
A judging panel of established domestic and international scientific researchers, and experts from prestigious universities, research Institutions, and PCHi’s Cosmetics Science & Technology Innovation Committee (CSTIC) considered the submissions against a set of criteria.
Pre-registration to attend PCHi 2018 is encouraged before 15th March. Visit www.pchi-china.com/en/visitors/visitor-register.
