Luxe Pack Shanghai 2018: What’s new?
Leading B2B event for innovative packaging in Asia, Luxe Pack Shanghai, will welcome over 200 exhibitors from over 11 countries at its 2018 programme.
Taking place at the Shanghai Exhibition Center on 11-12 April 2018, Luxe Pack will emphasise market development within the entire creative packaging industry.
This year’s platform will promote several new areas within the world of packaging to draw upon industry knowledge, insights and updates. These are designed to encourage visitors and exhibitors to share ideas and produce new concepts and solutions to the packaging sector in Asia.
Of this year's 200 exhibitors, 26% are new to the event. The cosmetics, beauty and personal care industries have a strong, visible presence as producers explore inventive design approaches and cutting-edge applications.
Packaging in 2018: Luxury appeal
“Experience the future of luxury packaging” was selected as the common thread in 2018 for luxury brands in China.
This is a reflection of the increasing consumer demand for high-quality materials, finishes, decoration, innovative shapes, digital or connected solutions, and designs that enhance the consumer experience.
The authoritative voice of new and exciting packaging in Asia will also showcase several new interactive experiences and diverse content topics to communicate trends, developments and innovation set for 2018 and beyond.
New Materials
The 2018 edition will see a clear focus on the new materials side of packaging. A roundtable is scheduled to encourage idea-sharing between emerging consumers and innovative exhibitors to explore “sensible creative ideas for the future”, along with how best to integrate new materials in packaging developments.
An interactive workshop will also look at the latest trends and movements in packaging design, focusing on integrating material experiences.
Unique raw materials, available to the packaging sector, will also be on display at the exclusive and interactive Luxe Pack trends incubator, which aims to inspire the next generation of packaging.
Staying sustainable
Brand new for 2018, Luxe Pack Shanghai will introduce its training sessions on sustainable development as the industry calls for improved social responsibility relating to both suppliers and brands.
This emphasis on sustainability reflects the growing focus on exploring eco-conceived packaging solutions and responsible initiatives. This reflects government support and the introduction of environmental measures in Asia, along with a shift towards more environmentally-conscious consumers.
Green awards
As Luxe Pack celebrated its 10th year in 2017, Metsä Board took home the Luxe Pack green award in the packaging solution category. Its Metsä skin care gift box was developed as a one-step opening and closing mechanism that is both lightweight and convenient for recycling.
The responsibility initiatives category, which recognises internal responsible sustainable initiatives conducted by a company, recognised James Cropper for the Burneside Community Energy project. The Luxe Pack award was given to James, who in partnership with Burneside Community Energy, developed a 250KW Solar PV Array to help generate clean, green electricity that does not detrimentally impact the special ecology and landscape of Burneside and its surrounding area.
Technology and interaction
Advanced technology will also be on the agenda as the organisers bring back tech hub for its second year. The designated area enables consumers to explore and respond to technological proposals relating to connected solutions, 3D printing, digital printing and augmented reality
Following its 2017 success, this year’s Luxe Pack instalment will include its visual wall display to showcase the most impressive packaging developments of the year.
