Nu Skin uses Japanese knotwood plant in new multifunctional skin care contribution
North Asia, Greater China and Southeast are next on the agenda, as premium anti-ageing supplier, Nu Skin Enterprises, launches its new beauty tool and treatment cleansers.

Described as the first-of-its-kind, Nu Skin now plans to introduce its dual-action skin care tool to Asian audiences over the next three months, after receiving a positive response to its previews and unveiling in the Americas and EMEA regions.

The skin care producer designed its latest product, ageLOC LumiSpa, to deliver a “skin-perfecting” treatment and cleansing benefits simultaneously to create softer and smoother skin. When using ageLOC LumiSpa, consumers can choose from five specially formulated cleansers, selected based on the user’s specific skin type.

Adopting a patent-pending, counter-rotating action that imitates a facial massage, the ageLOC LumiSpa device purifies pores by removing dirt, oil, make up, pollutants and toxins.

After improving the skin’s condition, it then focuses on its appearance by striving to create softness, purified skin, reduced pore appearance, smoothness, radiance, refreshed skin, along with the overall improved appearance of volume and density.

Research inspiration

Inspired by gene expression studies of skin protein production, Nu Skin scientists invented the ageLOC LumiSpa with contributions from a board-certified dermatologist. The researchers conducted several clinical studies including a 12-week study that revealed individuals who used the product experienced improvements in the skin’s smoothness, softness, texture, clarity and radiance.

“Top 10 Poster” by the International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists (IFSCC), which was selected from over 300 posters exhibited at the most recent IFSCC conference in Seoul, South Korea, also influenced the creation of ageLOC LumiSpa. The poster highlighted a study that used a novel treatment cleansing technology to improve skin softness and smoothness, with an average improvement of 51% after only one use.

Eastern influence

The ageLOC LumiSpa system comprises:

 - The ageLOC LumiSpa device; a waterproof, handheld personal skin care device;

 - Silicone treatment heads: ageLOC LumiSpa features two treatment heads — normal and firm; and

 - ageLOC LumiSpa treatment cleansers — which come in five formulations for skin that is dry, normal to combination, oily, sensitive and acne-prone. These contain Nu Skin’s proprietary ageLOC ingredient blend.

Using the Japanese knotweed plant to help reduce oil production, the ageLOC LumiSpa treatment cleansers also contain extracts from pomegranate and rhododendron for antioxidant protection, along with milk thistle and nannochloropsis oculata extract, from algae, to help maintain the skin’s natural moisture barrier.

Single treatment gets results

“When it comes to skin care, today’s busy consumer is looking for multi-functional products that are simple to use, yet produce results they can see and feel,” said Dr Joseph Chang, Chief Scientific Officer.

“ageLOC LumiSpa combines patent-pending technology with scientifically researched treatment cleansers to cleanse, exfoliate and renew the skin in a single treatment. As a result, customers can instantly experience softer, smoother skin that becomes more radiant.”

Pitched to the busy beauty lover

“The convenience and immediate results of ageLOC LumiSpa make it ideal for today’s busy consumer,” emphasised Ritch Wood, CEO, Nu Skin.

“With its unique ability to treat and cleanse the skin, LumiSpa is a great addition to our family of innovative skin care devices. We have seen great enthusiasm from our sales leaders during our limited launch, and we are anxious to begin making this product fully available for purchase around the world.”
