Singapore Business Review awards Bolloré Logistics and L'Oréal Singapore
In partnership, Bolloré Logistics and L’Oréal Singapore, won the recent award for their co-designed innovative trucking solution deployed in Asia-Pacific.

Bolloré Logistics, a brand of Bolloré Transport & Logistics, a global leader in supply chain management, and the Singaporean arm of international beauty giant, L’Oréal, has realised a unique system that will enable innovative delivery of products.

Singapore Business Review (SBR) recently awarded Bolloré Logistics and L’Oréal Singapore with an International Business Award for Logistics.

Innovation in delivery

Announced on 23rd May 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand, the duo has gained recognition for the implementation of the first-of-its-kind trucking solution throughout the Asia-Pacific region. This new innovation enables the double-stacking of L’Oréal Products.

Bolloré Logistics and L’Oréal Singapore first unveiled the trucking discovery in May 2017. The design phase lasted six months and involved teams from both companies to brainstorm and create the ideal solution.

Following its release, the solution has been used to transport L’Oréal Products on the cross-border road between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Tailor-made

The bespoke system contains eighteen collapsible racks that were specially made for L’Oréal, including specific dimensions that can fit both Europeans and United States pallets and made of 100% steel.

L’Oréal emphasised that this success was an "important collaboration" with Bolloré Logistics and "is part of the concerted sustainability efforts that L’Oréal Singapore has been driving".

"From conceptualisation to practical innovation and implementation, overcoming operational challenges including space and turnaround time, cross-border deliveries are now much more sustainably efficient," L’Oréal commented in a statement.

"Sustainability is a cornerstone of L’Oréal’s Sharing Beauty With All program for positive impact on society and the environment, and this could not have been achieved without close collaboration with Bolloré Logistics’ team.”

Environmental impact

The new trucking solution has created a range of benefits including operations improvement and on CO2 emissions for this particular route. This allows the companies to make a saving of up to 15% on freight costs compared to a traditional trucking system.

It also contains a lashing solution that creates strong stability. In addition, its racks can support up to 500 kilograms per pallet, with pallets build-up to 1.1 metres height.

Implementing new innovative solutions has been a key strategic focus for both L’Oréal and Bolloré Logistics. This sits alongside their joint aim to reduce their environmental footprint throughout their supply chain.

Held on the 17th May 2018, SBR International Business Awards took place at the Conrad Centennial Singapore.
