India’s Colorbar Cosmetics undergoes revamp ahead of global expansion plans
From packaging to logo design, home-grown Indian beauty brand Colorbar Cosmetics is changing its look in order to expand overseas and compete with global players in the market.

The revamp is scheduled for completion by the end of this year as Modi Enterprises, its parent company, plans to roll out the brand globally next year.

Recently the brand unveiled a sleek new logo design which can be seen on the brand’s Facebook page. The brand’s product packaging will also be updated, moving away from silver to a more trendy rose gold.

The company plans to update its storefronts as well with more lavish interiors and bespoke services such as shade customisation and name engraving.

Targeting the world

Once the makeover is complete, the company plans to break into Asia-pacific first in countries such as Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and China, before the brand expands its presence in Europe.

Currently the brand has a small presence in Dubai and Abu Dhabi which it hopes to grow throughout the Middle-east.

In addition to the global expansion, Colorbar Cosmetics plans to open 20 more bricks-and-mortar stores this year and relaunch its website by the end of September.

It currently has 80 boutiques and more than a thousand multi-brand outlets and is available through online e-commerce platforms.

The company, which launches over 250 SKUs every year, also has plans to enter the growing men’s grooming market.

The men’s range is scheduled to be rolled out in two months and will consists of skin care and beard care products.

Home-grown beauty

Colorbar Cosmetics arrived on the scene in 2005, back when there was a huge void in the domestic cosmetics market waiting to be filled.

Last year, the Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) estimated that the domestic cosmetic market will be worth $35bn by 2035 from the $6.5bn it was worth in 2017.

Positioning itself as a premium brand, Colorbar Cosmetics soon found itself a dedicated following that patronised the brand for its high-quality, internationally formulated products that looked and felt high-end.

The high-quality it has become known for is often credited to Samir Modi, the company’s founder and managing director, who staunchly refuses to compromise on product standards.

Today the products are formulated in R&D centres and facilities all over the world, including Paris, Germany, Italy, Greece, as well as India, giving the company access to some of the best formulations.

Aside from the superior quality and accessible price, Colorbar Cosmetics are also cruelty-free and formulated in compliance with FDA regulations and European Union standards.
