Innovations and trends on display at in-Cosmetics Asia’s new series of R&D tours
For the first time at in-Cosmetics Asia – which begins today, Tuesday October 30 – a series of 90-minute research and development (R&D) will be taking place across all three days.

Designed for R&D professionals, in-Cosmetics Asia’s dedicated R&D tours will showcase the latest breakthrough ingredients, technologies and take visitors through the latest trends in beauty today.

“The Formulation Lab and R&D Tours are exclusively designed specifically for cosmetic formulators to help them understand how new ingredients can be used in multiple ways to great effect,” said Sara Gibson Exhibition Director of in-cosmetics Asia.

“They are also the perfect forum to meet other like-minded experts to discuss formulation challenges and meet face-to-face key exhibitors who can demonstrate products first-hand.”

Top Trends

Put together and Hosted by leading cosmetic chemist Rouah al-Wakeel, the tours will focus on three key topics.

Attendees on the ‘silent tours’ will hear exclusive commentary about the latest ingredients in each area, as well as being able to ask questions throughout the session.

The first, held on October 30, is a Biotechnology Actives tour sponsored by Mibelle Biochemistry. On this tour, visitors will be able to discover more about next generation ingredients developed using molecularly-identical, natural ingredients.

Microbiomics will be featured on the second-day of the tour. Sponsored by Givaudan, those who sign up for this tour can learn how formulators are using skin-friendly bacteria to create ingredients that promise healthier, more radiant skin.

Visitors interested in natural ingredients can join the third and final R&D show of in-Cosmetics Asia, which will look at a range of new, paraben-free ingredients, as well as ingredients created without synthetic materials, fragrances or nano-particles.

These tours will take place every day of the event at 10:30am to 12pm, 1:30pm to 3pm and 3:30pm to 5pm.

Lab sessions

Taking place at the event as well is in-Cosmetics Asia’s Formulation Lab sessions, which will take visitors behind the scenes and meet the leading ingredient experts and learn the secret to their award winning formulations.

Like the R&D tours, the lab session will take place on all three days.

Join Cosphatec GmbH, Evonik Speciality Chemicals (Shanghai) and Clariant SA to learn about an anti-pollution, anti-aging skin elixir, natural ingredients created through fermentation, and advanced hair care on the first day in three separate sessions taking place all day.

On day two, take a closer look at a Halal SPF formulation with sensory enhancing properties, a a pigment dispersion in water media for aqueous-based make-up, and a sulphate-free micellar shampoo.

These three sessions will be held by Grant Industries, Sensient Cosmetic Technologies and Ashland Speciality Ingredients respectively.

On the last day of the exhibition, the lab sessions will be featuring a new emulsion paste that melts like ice-cream by Nikkol Group Nikko Chemicals.

Experiment on smart cosmetics ingredients to create personalised beauty products with Merck during the second session of the day.

Lastly, delve a session discussing natural surfactants hosted by Belinda Carli of the Institute of Personal Care, where visitors will receive a free natural surfactant formulation guide booklet.

in-cosmetics Asia takes place from October 30 to November 1 at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC). Registration for this year’s event is free of charge and can be completed via http://asia.in-cosmetics.com/register.
