This week, the L’Oréal subsidiary announced plans to join the company’s global Solidarity Plan to address the Coronavirus crisis.

The multinational beauty maker has, for several weeks now, been rolling out initiatives to support the fight against Coronavirus. On March 18 of this year, the L’Oréal efforts got underway with a ‘Europe-wide Coronvirus solidarity programme’. On March 25 L’Oréal Canada followed suit; and the following day L’Oréal USA got involved too.

Commenting on L’Oréal Canada’s contribution to the cause, President and CEO Frank Kollmar tells the press, “L'Oréal Canada wishes to show solidarity with the Canadian community facing this exceptional crisis situation, and wishes to express its gratitude and support to all those who are taking extraordinary action to fight this pandemic.”

“I believe it is our responsibility to contribute to the collective effort,” continues Kollmar, “and I am proud to see the mobilization and resilience of my teams who wish to get involved and do their part in this unprecedented struggle.” And he gives a nod to Health Canada for supporting the company’s efforts.

This week, La Roche-Posay joins the effort

La Roche-Posay products are manufactured in France (because the brand’s core formulations rely on local thermal spring water). And now, as part of the company’s global efforts during the virus crisis, “the international La Roche-Posay brand, housed in France, is mobilized to produce millions of hand sanitizers at its international plant to answer to the dramatic hand gel shortage, and distribute them around the world,” states a L’Oréal media release circulated Monday.

This week, La Roche-Posay announced plans to donate its hand sanitizer gel to hospitals, health organizations, and charities serving women across Canada. Additionally, “upon several requests from nurses and doctors, the brand will also be donating them Cicaplast hand creams and moisturizers in order to end their suffering from repetitive and daily use of hand sanitizers,” — this, according to Monday’s release.

Selling La Roche-Posay hand sanitzer to the consumer public in Canada

Beyond the donations to frontline workers and women-facing charities, the La Roche-Posay hand sanitzer gel will be available for retail sale in Canada as well.

This month, a 250mL bottle is being sold at a MSRP of $5.99. And starting in June, a smaller 75mL bottle will be available in Canada for an MRSP of $3.99.
