Luxury J-beauty brand POLA is set to expand its bestselling White Shot range in late January with a skin care essence and beauty supplement which are based on the company’s new research and development.

The flagship brand of Pola Orbis Holdings has drawn from the company’s research into skin whitening and pigmentation spot spots.

The new White Shot SXS essence was developed in line with the firm’s research into the role nerves play on skin pigmentation spots.

Most recently, a study by POLA Chemical Industries, discovered that Geranium robertianum, commonly known as herb robert extract, could suppress the activation of melanocytes in the nerves and prevent the formation of age spots on the skin.

In addition to the firm’s proprietary ingredients such as Rucinol EX and mA Clear Extract found in other White Shot products, the new essence contains herb robert extract.

The company claims that by targeting the nerves, the new essence can combat more stubborn pigmentation spots.

Following the 2020 release of White Shot’s liquid supplement Inner Lock Liquid IXS, the brand is expanding its inner beauty range with a new beauty supplement in pill form that supports skin whitening.

The new supplement, White Shot Inner Lock Tablet IXS, contains Mio MG Extract, a new proprietary ingredient from POLA that was developed following the company’s research into mango ginger.

Mango ginger, or Curcuma amada, features prominently in Indian cuisine and medicine. It is most commonly pickled or used in chutneys across India.

According to POLA’s research, mango ginger extract increases myonectin production in muscle cells.

Myonectin travels in the bloodstream and suppresses inflammation in muscles as well as epidermal cells.

As such, the research claims that it plays an active role in preventing pigmentation spots, not just on the face, but the entire body.

In addition to mango ginger, the supplement tablet also contains holy basil and devil’s claw, which are native to the Indian subcontinent and South African region respectively.

Key to POLA interest

Parent company Pola Orbis Group announced that the new White Shot SXS essence and White Shot Inner Lock Tablet IXS supplement will be launched in Japan on January 26.

POLA is scheduled to launch the new products nationwide in 3,800 POLA outlets and 640 cosmetic shops. They will also be available online in travel retail.

The products will subsequently be launched in China, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore and South Korea.

The White Shot series has been a key range for POLA in the last year as it helped to spur interest in the brand in China where the firm had been concentrating its expansion efforts.

According to its latest financial results, POLA sales in China increased 56% year on year despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. China’s offline sales were up 100% and online sales were up 13% year on year.

The success of POLA in China helped to boost overall overseas sales growth by 38%. Furthermore, it also saw a 12% increase in new customers.

The company is optimistic about the brand’s performance results in the next quarter, going so far as to forecast that its online sales in China alone will grow by 50% to 60% in the third quarter thanks to sales from Singles’ Day Shopping Festival.
