Developed using the brand’s Motion Protect technology, the Reveal Mesh Cushion Foundation is a serum foundation whose finish is characterised by a natural-looking glow and has been tested to last for 24 hours.
“The thin layer of pigment adheres to the skin and moves with facial movements, so you can spend the whole day without worrying about creasing, smudging, or dullness.
“In addition, each pigment is coated with dimethicone crosspolymer and blends smoothly into the skin, thoroughly covering unevenness, discolouration, pores, and fine lines while maintaining a light, breathable texture,” said Prada Beauty.
The product also contains sebum-absorbing titanium oxide and iron oxide, as well as other potent skin care ingredients, including niacinamide, to provide moisture and deliver a translucent complexion.
Furthermore, its sunscreen rating of SPF50+ PA+++ offers protection against both UVA and UVB rays.
The four available shades, whose coverage can be built by layering, were selected based on Asian skin tones and colours obtained using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
Based on Prada Beauty’s survey, 92% of respondents shared that the soft texture adhered closely to the skin, and felt light and comfortable just like bare skin.
Additionally, 90% of them felt that their skin became smoother each time they used the cushion foundation.
In Japan, pre-sales were held on the brand’s official online store, Prada Beauty Tokyo, Hankyu Umeda Main Store and JR Nagoya Takashimaya, and @cosme e-commerce platform.
It was officially released on January 29, and refills are scheduled to be available from March 5.
Prada Beauty has been actively expanding in Asia over the past few years. For instance, the brand’s first brick-and-mortar store in South East Asia opened in Singapore in August 2023. It entered Hong Kong and Korea in April 2024 and September 2024 respectively.
On January 3 this year, it landed in Taiwan via a pop-up store before officially launching at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi malls in Taipei Nanxi and Taichung later that month.
Fashion-inspired foundation
Since the debut of Prada Beauty in August 2023, the company has continued to craft its products by rejecting existing definitions and expectations of beauty.
The use of technology and notion of innovating with an open mind are reflected in the development of the Reveal Mesh Cushion Foundation.
“Nylon represents the innovation that is at the heart of Prada’s design philosophy. The brand’s signature fabric was created in the late 1970s as an accessory material, redefining modern luxury by transforming nylon, previously known as an everyday material, into a design-driven luxury item.
“Debuted in 2019, Prada Re-Nylon can be recycled an indefinite number of times without affecting the material’s quality. It embodies the combination of innovative ideas and responsible behaviour, which is the core of the brand’s identity. The Mesh Cushion Foundation was born to carry this sentiment into its beauty products.”
Prada Re-Nylon is made from regenerated nylon created through the recycling and purification of plastics collected from oceans.
The packaging of the Reveal Mesh Cushion Foundation is composed of a “generous amount” of Re-Nylon to incorporate the codes of “luxury, functionality and responsibility”.
