Luxury cosmetics brand Guerlain recently launched six new shades of its KissKiss Bee Glow Pearly lip balm range, which contains Corsican honey and adapts to the lips’ natural colour, in Japan.

Touted as the “brightening range” of the KissKiss Bee Glow lip balm series, the Pearly line-up is characterised by the usage of ingredients found in honeycombs and the product’s soft pearlescent finish.

Among the new colours introduced in Japan, four are limited-edition shades. In particular, 056 Pearly Lily shade is an icy blue that changes to a natural rose colour depending on the pH of the user’s lips.

“The colour palette is inspired by the freshness of morning dew, with each shade illuminating the lips’ natural hues while tinting them with a finish that radiates a healthy glow,” the brand said.

The lip balms are made of 98% naturally derived ingredients. Based on ISO 16128 standard, the remaining 2% contribute to the formula’s integrity and sensory qualities.

Specifically, the key ingredients include Corsican honey, which claims to have a soothing effect and provide “long-lasting comfort”; propolis and natural hyaluronic acid to soften and plump lips; and shea butter to brighten dull lips and give a subtle shine.

Beeswax is also added to ensure a smooth glide onto lips and to form a protective barrier.

Based on a study performed among 30 participants, the moisturising effect on the lips was experienced for up to 24 hours after application.

The lip balm is encased in golden packaging, with both its lid and bullet tip engraved with a bee, the emblem of the brand since 1853.

Another new addition to the KissKiss series is the Bee Lift Primer, made from a formula comprising Corsican honey, beeswax, and Ikaria honey, which is known to contain anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.

The lip primer’s universal shade is said to leave a soft and sheer veil, and goes well with any Guerlain lipstick. Its soft, creamy texture creates a blurring effect that fills lip lines, and helps preserve lipstick colour throughout the day.

Colours of nature

At the same time, Guerlain has launched two new shades of Terracotta Blush in Japan “to add sparkle to spring makeup”.

Inspired by colours found in nature, the lightweight, airy powder blends seamlessly with the skin while enhancing the user’s natural complexion and presenting a translucent finish.

Due to its content of 90% naturally derived argan oil, it boasts a moist and smooth texture that gently wraps around the cheeks.

000 Pearlescent Beige is an elegant light beige with an iridescent glow and buildable intensity to match one’s personal preference.

On the other hand, 06 Deep Red is an intense and flamboyant red that accentuates the skin’s transparency, giving it a natural healthy hue reminiscent of the colour on cheeks after an outdoor escapade.
