Coty Japan plans portfolio expansion as it takes full control of operations in July

American multinational Coty will assume direct control of its Japan operations from Bluebell Japan effective July as it aims to deepen its presence in the market.

Starting July 1, Coty will directly handle import, distribution, and sales of its products in Japan. This will include products from brands such as Burberry, Calvin Klein, Chloe and Gucci.

In press statement released by Coty, Shosaku Yamamori, president and chief executive of Coty Japan indicated that the company plans to expand its portfolio in Japan.

Unilever India acquires majority in Minimalist to ‘turbocharge’ premium beauty portfolio

The acquisition of Minimalist will strengthen Hindustan Unilever’s (HUL) premium beauty offerings, which is “under-indexed”, says its CFO.

Unilever’s Indian subsidiary confirmed it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire local skin care brand Minimalist during its latest financial conference on January 22.

“This marks another step in the transformation journey of our portfolio towards higher growth demand spaces,” said Ritesh Tiwari, Chief Financial Officer, HUL.

Kosé accelerates India expansion with investment in domestic brand

Kosé Corporation has made a minority investment in Indian skin care brand Foxtale, marking a significant step in its efforts to accelerate expansion in the fast-growing market.

The Japanese beauty major announced that it had acquired a 10% stake in Indian skin care company Foxtale on January 15.

“We are very pleased to have concluded a capital and strategic alliance with Foxtale, a company experiencing remarkable growth in the premium mass skin care market, in the memorable 10th anniversary year of our entry into India,” said Kazutoshi Kobayashi, president and CEO of Kosé.

LG Household & Health Care is targeting growth on Amazon while expanding its physical retail footprint as part of North America strategy this year.

The South Korean consumer goods company has been prioritising its business in North America and has been working to expand its influence in the market with three brands – The Face Shop, Belif, and CNP Laboratories.

In her New Year’s address dated January 2, chief executive Lee Jung-ae reinforced the firm’s commitment to North America, highlighting the success it had in 2024.

Kao-owned beauty brand Molton Brown has opened its first flagship store in Indonesia as part of its strategy to expand presence in the Asian luxury fragrance market.

The launch represents a new step in Kao’s Global Sharp Top Strategy, a growth strategy focusing on establishing leadership in premium market segments through high-value products and services.

Located at Ciputra World Surabaya, a premier shopping mall in Indonesia’s second-largest city, the Molton Brown store was unveiled on December 22, 2024.
