CosmeticsDesign rounds up the latest product launches in the region that are blurring the lines between colour cosmetics and makeup, featuring NARS, Glow Recipe, and KraveBeauty.

The less-is-more approach continues to gain momentum with more awareness on skin health and the need to protect the all-important skin barrier.

This is driving consumers towards a more minimalist beauty routine, which embraces simple routines with multi-functional products that does not overload the skin.

At the same time, the skinification movement shows no signs of slowing down. With this shift, we are seeing more brands incorporate skin care ingredients into colour cosmetic products.

Many of these products share a similar goal to enhance the user’s natural beauty while protecting and nourishing it.

The formula’s composition is 73% skin care ingredients, according to the brand. This includes its Triple C Brightening Complex, which is made up of Kakadu plum fruit, citron peel, prune fruit extract.

It also contains pentylene glycol derived from sugarcanes which helps to hydrate skin as well as camellia flower extract.

US-Korean beauty brand Glow Recipe launched a tinted serum that gives cheeks a flush of colour while acting to hydrate, plump, and improve dark spots and pigmentation.

The launch marked the brand’s entry into the skin care-makeup hybrid category.

While it does impart colour, the brand said this was a “skin care-first formulation”. It is packed with ingredients such as 3% niacinamide, watermelon, centella asiatica and hyaluronic acid.

According to a four-week consumer study of 32 subjects the brand conducted, 94% of panellists showed improvement in hyperpigmentation after four weeks.

The brand suggested that the tinted serums, which come in two shades, can be used as the final step of the skin care routine.

The pigments are coated in non-comedogenic jojoba oil, which enhance stability, dispersion and adherence to the skin without penetrating into the skin.

Glow Recipe’s latest product is an extension of its signature Watermelon series, which features watermelon and niacinamide as its key ingredients.
