Syoss introduces clay-containing dye to meet growing demand for ‘grey hair cover’

Japanese brand Syoss has launched a premium hair dye called Syoss Clay Cream, amid rising concerns regarding grey hair among older consumers.

The hair dye leverages the rich minerals and adhesiveness of natural clay, which “cannot be produced artificially”, and is specially targeted at concealing grey hair.

It is the first time that the brand is incorporating clay in its consumer range.

Used in skin and hair care since ancient times, clay’s high adhesion ability could facilitate the delivery of minerals and other actives into the skin.

No muss, no fuss: MEDULLA releases serum shampoo targeted at ‘bath-cancelling community’ in Japan

Japanese brand MEDULLA has created a serum shampoo that addresses hair damage concerns while tackling the needs of an emerging “bath-cancelling community”.

The bath-cancelling community refers to people who actively choose to skip taking a bath, often due to fatigue or mental health issues.

A key feature of the ME-Drip RESQUE SHAMPOO is its packaging — a drip bag-like pouch that comes with an S-hook, so it can be easily hung in the bathroom.

Additional treatment is also not required, which the brand believes will delight the “bath-cancelling community”.

COSCELL capitalises on booming PDRN trend in South Korea with plant-based alternative

South Korean derma beauty brand COSCELL has launched a new product containing plant-based polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN).

One of the hottest skin care ingredients emerging from South Korea in the past year, PDRN was approved for use by the country’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) in 2008.

Known as Green Papaya PDRN Pore Ampoule, the product is targeted at addressing various pore concerns and contains PDRN extracted from green papaya - an unripe papaya that has more papain than a regular papaya.

Papain is an enzyme that breaks down dead skin cells and proteins on the skin’s surface, making it an effective exfoliator to improve skin texture.

Japan’s athletia introduces new serum for easy hair restyling on the go

Japanese beauty brand athletia has released a new hair serum that claims to enable easy restyling on the go, targeting consumers with active lifestyles.

The Restyling Hair Serum is part of its “active and go” series, which caters to people who are constantly on the move.

The product is made with a combination of plant-derived ingredients and hair care technologies that are said to help users easily reset their hairstyles in “a variety of situations where hairstyling is inconvenient”.

Vino innovation: Vitis V sees grape seed skin care opportunity despite short shelf life

Australian winemaker Vitis V has developed a skin care product made with unfermented grape seeds that have been cold pressed to capture its “full phytonutrient profile and potency”.

The Barossa Valley-based company produces its own grapeseed oil and extract using white grape seeds, which do not undergo the fermentation process during winemaking.

However, one of the challenges of producing the grapeseed oil and extract this way is that its shelf life is significantly shortened.
