This strategic partnership is said to come at a time when interest in K-beauty and dermocosmetic products is growing, with Australian consumers increasingly seeking scientifically backed skin care solutions and prioritising genuine skin health over trend-driven routines.
“Australia’s harsh environmental factors — from intense ultraviolet (UV) exposure to dramatic seasonal transitions — demand skin care solutions of exceptional calibre. AESTURA’s arrival fills a crucial gap in the market for dermatologist-recommended brands that combine Korean innovation with clinical credibility.
“Our products and formulas have been trusted by Korean dermatologists and sensitive-skin users alike for decades, and now with this launch at Sephora Australia, we are excited to share these innovative solutions to a wider audience,” said Sheila Dam, Brand General Manager at AESTURA.
Culminating over 40 years of scientific research and dermatological expertise, the brand has been ranked as the top cosmetic brand sold in skin clinics for nine consecutive years (2016 to 2024), based on data from Korea Consumer Agency.
It has a wide distribution network across South Korea, including all tertiary general hospitals in the country.
“The exclusive partnership with Sephora Australia underscores both brands’ commitment to offering premium, results-driven skin care solutions. Sephora’s reputation for curating the world’s most coveted beauty brands makes it the ideal retail partner for AESTURA’s Australian debut.”
AESTURA will be available at all Sephora Australia and New Zealand stores as well as its online platform from August 26.
Crucial ceramides
AESTURA’s hero range ATOBARRIER365 consists of products formulated to address specific sensitive-skin concerns, such as dryness, irritation, and barrier damage, while improving overall skin health.
Each product is designed for daily use, providing a complete routine to meet sensitive skin needs.
Among this line of products is the ATOBARRIER365 Cream, which harnesses the patented Triple-Lipid Technology, engineered to mimic the skin’s natural structure and target the fundamental pillars of skin health — hydration, protection, and restoration.
This product has been a viral hit in Korea, with data showing that one unit is being sold every seven seconds. Its cumulative unit sales from September 2018 to January 2024 reached 3m.
Each bottle of the cream contains one million ceramide capsules, which have been proven in an ex vivo test on human skin to stay on the skin for up to 18 hours.
These ceramide capsules are claimed to deliver hydration while strengthening, repairing, and protecting the moisture barrier that can be weakened or compromised in sensitive skin.
According to Dr Claire Chang, board-certified dermatologist at UnionDerm and clinical instructor of dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital, ceramides are crucial for those with sensitive skin.
“It’s not just about any ceramides though. Sensitive skin benefits most from specific ceramides that mimic those naturally found in the skin.
“AESTURA’s innovative capsule technology used in the ATOBARRIER365 Cream encapsulates these barrier-boosting ceramides, allowing for deeper penetration to help rebuild and strengthen the skin’s natural barrier. Results from a clinical trial demonstrated significantly enhanced skin hydration and barrier function [due to the cream].”
