The brand started in 2009 with its hero product, Intense Moisturiser, which was designed as a non-steroid repair balm powered by UMF15+ Manuka honey to provide relief for compromised skin.
“It set the benchmark for our All Natural, All Active philosophy, where every ingredient is included for a reason and at a level that makes a meaningful difference. We’re not interested in filler formulas or following trends—we’re here to create products that people genuinely rely on. That commitment to real results continues to guide every product we’ve developed since.
“Building on the success of the Intense Moisturiser, we’re now working on extending the range into everyday essentials with the same therapeutic strength. A Manuka Body Wash and Lip Balm are currently in development, and we’re also exploring solutions for more specific concerns like scalp psoriasis,” Matthew Boyle, managing director of Honey Biotics, told CosmeticsDesign-Asia.
He added that the brand’s pipeline is aimed at making high-performance, natural products accessible for everyone, be it daily care or targeted treatment.
The Intense Moisturiser is registered with Australia’s regulatory authority Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), indicating that the product has been independently assessed for safety, quality, and efficacy.
According to Boyle, being TGA-listed is a “non-negotiable” as that is crucial for building trust in markets like Australia and New Zealand, where consumers are “rightly cautious” about what they put on their skin.
“Too often, natural products promise more than they can deliver. A TGA listing ensures that when we say our Intense Moisturiser can assist eczema, psoriasis or dermatitis, consumers know those claims are backed by science. For us, it’s about integrity: only making products that truly do what they say.“What makes the product different is that it goes far beyond hydration. It does not contain steroid but is powerful enough to alleviate skin conditions as well as everyday concerns like cuts, burns, and insect bites.
“For some, it’s a daily essential that keeps their skin calm and resilient. For others, it’s part of their first aid kit. Very few products have this kind of versatility, backed by both clinical credibility and over 500 five-star customer reviews.”
Sustainably sourced
The UMF15+ Manuka honey used in all Honey Biotics products, including Intense Moisturiser, is sourced from New Zealand.
“Manuka honey is recognised for its therapeutic-grade efficacy. Its high concentration of methylglyoxal (MGO)—a bioactive compound with potent antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties—supports accelerated wound healing, reduces irritation, and balances skin microbiome.
“Clinically shown to retain moisture and restore compromised skin, it’s one of the most studied and effective natural treatments in topical care.”
Boyle emphasised that the brand only works with ethical beekeepers who use sustainable practices to protect hives and biodiversity.
In addition, through its Save the Bees programme, a portion of every sale supports a global non-profit organisation called Heifer International, which funds new hives and training for farming communities in developing countries.
“This not only helps restore bee populations globally, but also provides sustainable livelihoods. It means every tube of our Intense Moisturiser contributes to healthier skin and a healthier planet.”
Apart from UMF15+ Manuka honey, the formula includes natural vitamin E, jojoba oil and shea nut butter to provide lasting hydration and barrier support, as well as beeswax to lock in moisture without clogging pores.
It is also said to be gentle enough for use on both face and body as part of daily skin care routine or as needed for targeted relief, and is suitable for all ages and skin types, including sensitive skin.
