No muss, no fuss: MEDULLA releases serum shampoo targeted at ‘bath-cancelling community’ in Japan
Japanese brand MEDULLA has created a serum shampoo that addresses hair damage concerns while tackling the needs of an emerging “bath-cancelling community”.
According to data accumulated from approximately 500,000 users, it was found that many people suffer from everyday damage like split ends and tangles, as well as severe damage caused by colouring and bleaching.
The bath-cancelling community refers to people who actively choose to skip taking a bath, often due to fatigue or mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression.

South Korean cosmetics manufacturer Cosmax has developed an ingredient that treats hair loss and seborrheic dermatitis simultaneously by rebalancing the scalp microbiome.
Through a study, Cosmax researchers found that an imbalanced scalp microbiome played a significant role in the onset of hair loss and seborrheic dermatitis.
This led to the development of Dandriome, an ingredient developed by studying the beneficial microorganisms found in healthy scalps.

Dr.Groot recently introduced the second generation of its Microbiome hair care range called Microbiome BioExosome, consisting of four products, namely a shampoo, conditioner, ampoule treatment, and hair tonic.
The new shampoo is formulated using the brand’s proprietary BioExosome technology that incorporates 40,000 bee pollen exosomes and 100million CFU of lactic acid bacteria fermented lysate.

Kolmar Korea has unveiled a new sunscreen technology that overcomes formulation challenges by integrating the strong ultraviolet (UV) protection of inorganic sunscreens with the superior spreadability of organic sunscreens.
Called UV-DUO PLUS, it is claimed to be the world’s first hybrid composite sunscreen stabilisation technology, which addresses the shortcomings of traditional hybrid sunscreens, where particle aggregation often led to gaps in the UV protection film.
Besides blocking UV rays efficiently, the technology also targets long-wavelength ultraviolet (UVA) that accelerates photoageing.

Japanese brand Syoss is launching a premium hair dye formulated with natural clay amid rising concerns regarding grey hair among older consumers.
The product called Syoss Clay Cream leverages the rich minerals and adhesiveness of clay, which “cannot be produced artificially”.
According to an online survey conducted in September last year, the most common reason for dyeing hair among people aged 40 and above (55.5% in their 40s, 75.5% in their 50s, and 82.6% in their 60s) was to conceal grey hair.
Acnocure could provide natural solution to acne, with antibiotic-level results: India, France study
A new study by L’Oréal Research & Innovation (R&I) teams in India and France indicated that Acnocure, a plant-based active, could offer a natural alternative to antibiotics and corticosteroids for acne treatment.
The compound is a patented blend of thymol, a monoterpene from thyme, and Curcuma turmerones, aromatic compounds from turmeric.
According to the researchers, it provided rapid and long-lasting bactericidal action against Cutibacterium acnes (C. acnes) — a key driver of acne — and significantly reduces inflammation in lab models.
Furthermore, Acnocure maintained its efficacy for up to 24 hours, and presented antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory benefits in a cosmetic-grade serum formulation.
