BiotechMarine’s new ingredient promises to improve hair volume and shine by targeting both the hair shaft and the scalp.

The France-based company has added Sea Satin to its portfolio of marine ingredients.

Extracted from sea beet (Beta vulgaris maritima) the coastal wild ancestor of the beetroot vegetable, the ingredient has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, according to the company.

It can help protect hair from external aggressions restoring hair volume and brightness, explained a spokesperson from BiotechMarine.

“Sea Satin could be used in shampoos, conditioners and masks especially dedicated to dull hair, and hair exposed to pollution, smoke and UV rays,” the spokesperson told CosmeticsDesign.

In addition, Sea Satin is preservative free and awaiting Ecocert certification.

"Sea Satin is an oil extract based on a triglyceride formula which does not need any preservative," the spokesperson added.

BiotechMarine reaches out to new shores

The company has recently announced two new distribution agreements that will help it tackle foreign markets.

Sao Paulo-based company OH! Ingredients has been chosen to distribute the company’s ingredient in Brazil.

This is not the first time the company has had a presence in the country. However, the previous distribution agreement was with a more established, larger company, and BiotechMarine explained that the young dynamic OH! Ingredients was a better fit for the company.

Bronson and Jacobs Pty will take care of distribution in Australia and New Zealand. Again, Australia was already on the company’s distribution map but as Bronson and Jacobs is one of the leading suppliers to health and personal care industries in Oceania the company has high hopes for the newly penned deal.
