US-based Health Sciences has re-formulated Sense, its skin and
personal care product line. The product has been re-launched
containing the company's new preserving technology, which is said
to contain a number of active ingredients to help extend shelf life
without the use of parabens.

The patent pending technology uses a combination of botanicals, antioxidants and other ingredients to that are said to help keep products fresh, without the use of parabens, the most common preservative used in cosmetics and skin care products.

Parabens are preservatives commonly used as a mix containing five different esters which are used to extend the life of nearly all cosmetic products. However, there is a growing incidence of allergies to this preservative, which is why many manufacturers are now racing to find alternatives.

However, the company says that even though the new Sense line is formulated without parabens, it still offers the same two-year shelf life. Sense is claimed to be the first major skin care line in the world to implement this new scientific advancement.

"Our preservative technology will change skin care as we know it. The cosmetic industry has been trying to discover a way to preserve products without parabens for years, and by introducing our new technology in the Sense line, USANA continues to establish itself as the leader in the industry," said Dr. Myron Wentz, founder and chairman of USANA, a company that develops and manufactures nutritional and personal care products sold in host of countries including Canada, Australia, the US, Japan and the UK

The Sense skin care line will include the same products but will now be formulated with the new patent pending technology. Health Sciences says that Sense hair and body products are also being reintroduced with the new technology and include two new products.
