Scientific skin care on the agenda at South Korea Conference

The new South Korea International Conference will have a focus on scientific skin care as it looks to capitalise on the booming cosmetics market in the region.

The ‘Skincare In 5 Dimensions’ event takes place on 25 September in Seoul, in association with Korea Cosmetics Association (KCA), focusing on Global Market Intelligence, Research, Testing, Regulations and Formulation.

“South Korea is well-known for being one of the world’s most technologically advanced beauty markets, making it the perfect location for this conference,”​ says Sarah Gibson, Exhibition Director, in-cosmetics Asia; who organises the event.

“We’re excited to be partnering with KCA to launch the event which is designed to help manufacturers improve R&D and marketing strategies, paving the way for successful product launches.”

Conference programme

The conference kicks off with a morning session that will looking into the global developments in skin care.

Mintel’s Diane Park will examine how skin care products can tap into consumer concerns over protection against environmental changes and urban lifestyles; and Dr Alain Khaiat from Seers Consulting will provide an update on New Regulations Affecting Skincare Including Animal Testing

Dr Karl Lintner of Kal’Idees will also look at the industry’s need for a new language to better communicate the science of ‘neurocosmetics’.

The day continues with talks from Florence Bernardin of Information & Inspiration, Dr Minsoo Noh of Seoul National University and another session from Khaiat on ASEAN.

Focus

A panel discussion in the afternoon will also focus on scientific skin care in Asia. Panelists will discuss current trends such as skin-whitening and the hot topic of anti-pollution as well as the challenges for ingredient suppliers, cosmetic manufacturers and testing laboratories.

They will also explore how scientific advances in their fields have ‘changed the game’ and what the industry can learn from these.
