Colipa's general assembly will focus on research issues

Research, innovation and regulatory issues will be high on the
conference agenda at Colipa's general assembly this year.

The European trade association has invited cosmetic industry leaders to gather in Lucerne, Switzerland, for the three day event which begins on 14 May. High profile speakers from leading personal care companies and industry bodies have been invited to talk at the Scientific Forum on the second day and the General Assembly on the last day. Scientific Forum​ The Scientific Forum will kick off with a word of warning from a representative of the Institute for Clinical Research and Health Policy Studies who will deliver a talk entitled "Why most published research findings are false". The morning session will focus on research and science issues and will also feature talks on the OECD toolbox, quality criteria for toxicology studies, progress in the development of animal testing alternatives and the use of automated motion imaging to model consumer exposure to deodorants. These presentations will be given by representatives of the OECD, Unilever, Procter & Gamble and L'Oreal respectively. In the afternoon the conference will move onto technical and regulatory issues with talks being given on REACH implementation, changes expected under the revision of EU cosmetics legislation and ingredients under discussion in the EU. The heads of the Personal Care Products Council and the Japan Cosmetics Industry Association will also be giving presentations on hot cosmetic topics of the day in the US and Japan. General Assembly​ On the final day the General Assembly will be focused around the theme of innovation and its importance in the cosmetics industry. The session will go beyond the nuts and bolts of innovation and into marketing with talks on the role of innovation in the creation of trust in brands and the communication of new scientific ideas to consumers. The assembly will also cover innovation and fragrances, the importance of science as a driver of sustainability and safety testing without animals.
